Mom needs a vacation!
 

Were is the best place for a group of mom's to vacation without the kids and husbands? We are looking for a long weekend full of relaxation and fun.

Where are you from? That will make a difference on what you can or cannot do over a long weekend.

I work in Nantucket Real Estate with Great Point Properties (www.greatpointproperties.com) and I am a biased to Nantucket. Nantucket Rental homes in the season tend to be a minimum of one week but in the shoulder seasons some homeowners will do less. Or if you were thinking of coming during the season the B&Bs are a good option.

I've had some great girls trips to Vegas. Great spas (Mandalay Bay or Venetian), lots of shopping, and lots of things to do. Everything is close so you don't have to kill yourself coordinate every bit of transportation.

I also recommend NYC and LA!

yes, we need to know where you are from, approx budget range, do you want to drive, would you fly if it was only a few hours, and what time of year? would you do hotel rooms/suite or must have condo/house- I go away every yr with a group of 6-8 ladies, but need more to go on....

You have posted on five threads since you have been here, and in each one of them you have thrown in your little commercial. I don't want to keep reading them and I am fairly sure no one else does. That is not what this site is for. :-(

My friends have met at cabins and had great times. We all bring something delicious to eat and a beverage and some bring crafts, some novels, some swim...

I would say Vegas. No other place in America packs more excitement per square mile and offers airfare & flight deals within most budgets.

I love NYC but you have asked for "relaxation" and I don't know about you, but NYC and Vegas are not what I would call relaxing spots. I would check out some spas in places that you are willing to travel for a weekend, and just make sure that they are within driving distance to some great mall!

Thanks for all your responses! I live in Cleveland, Ohio. So far, there are no budget restraints and we will fly anywhere in the US. We are just a bunch of stay at home mom's who are ready to loose it if we don't get away :) Vegas has been mentioned within our group, but some of the husbands are not thrilled with that idea...

As for the responses about advertising, business and commercial...I am clueless as to what you are talking about. I am a middle aged stay at home mom of three. Is something coming up on my post?

The responses were not to you or your post but to the second response to your post. Regulars here tend to get really ticked off at those who advertise here - sorry if you misunderstood what the issue was.

Do you want warm weather, relaxation or something to do.

I would look at all-inclusives or even a short cruise - for me, to not have to decide where to eat, arrange transportation to a meal, etc. would win out over the food oimitations of such a place - I spend enough time worrying about everyone elses food and activities to want to deal with that on vacation. Also, allows some easy flexibility for individual schedules and preferences while on trip.

In our area, the back page of the Sunday newspaper travel section has all sorts of AI with prices including air for 3 or 4 night stays.

But the above just reflects my preference for such a trip - I would want to park myself somewhere, relax, read, drink, sun myself by the water.

I'd fly to Miami and South Beach.

I do this trip with girlfriends every year! Same idea...get away, no kids, no husbands, etc. We do spa trips. A great one is Red Mountain Spa in SW Utah. It is an adventure spa, so lots to do, but also lots of pampering. We have been there a few times and it is perfect for this sort of thing. It is only about 2 hours from Las Vegas, so we fly in there and either rent a car or take a shuttle.

People are not supposed to use this forum to plug their business or offer services in any way.... the forum is for people who just want to offer advice to others from their experiences, which she could do w/out plugging her business....not the place for that or the forum would become full of advertising from businesses we know nothing about.

For your question:
A long weekend - well I wouldn't want to fly too far and eat up part of a day flying, getting to a destination, etc and having to do it again after only one full day - maybe you can stretch it by leaving Thurs pm and returning late Sunday or early Monday and getting back before the kids do from school?

I am in a group of ladies who goes away every year, sometimes for a Thurs-Sun, sometimes a day or so longer. This is the first year we are going for one full week (but our kids for the most part are all 16-24) Don't know what time of year you are thinking of...spring, summer, etc - but -

Places we have gone and enjoyed:
The Doral Golf and Spa Resort, Miami: www.doralresort.com - this gives you spa services and proximity for nights out in Miami or South Beach area.
Canyon Ranch - we went to the one in Lenox, Ma (Berkshires) but there is one in tuscon, arizona
D.C. - many hotels have in spa services, and you could have fun seeing some sites, shopping, etc
NYC - again, spa services abound (Bliss, etc) and you would have theater, museums, great meals
Santa Fe, San Antonio Riverwalk, Napa Valley, CA, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Cape Cod, Vermont...

We have not done it w/ the ladies, but recently I was in Charleston, SC and we plan on doing that some year. This year we are off to Naples/Marco Island for a week.....

I remember when we did it when our kids were much younger - we usually liked to only have a 3 hr drive so we'd get there and be able to really settle in for the long weekend, which is all the time we could spare - we would find a condo or hotel suite that was in a nearby area and were happy to have some spa service, nice 'uninterrupted meals' and just time to veg and walk/read/etc..even just renting some movies and having take out and chatting all night .....I am not familiar with Ohio, but you may want to consider trying to find something simpler and closer which might bring you more relaxation....
Although if Vegas flights work for you, Vegas is not all about gambling and sketchy night life - there are great shows, wonderful restaurants, hotels with amazing pools and spa services, etc....
wherever you go have fun.... and enjoy even taking a shower without some little one knocking on the door !!

Charleston, S.C. is lovely in the springtime.

Would also depend on what you would like to do when you get to where you're going. I would recommend, Vegas, Miami Beach, Key West or Myrtle Beach...all great weekend getaways!

How about New Orleans? No city could use your tourist dollars more, and the popular spots with travelers are up and running. Great music, great food, and you can walk around all day gabbing and shopping with daquiris in hand (no open container law either)!

Our group has done the 3-day Bahamas cruise out of Miami, which was very relaxing. Rates go down in May.

We've also done Key West, and Hollywood Beach, FL (with a full spa day at the Diplomat, which was wonderful). We rented condo's in these places, so we had our own kitchen for mixing our tropical drinks and for keeping fruit, beverages and breakfast items (NOT for cooking, of course.

We're also trying for Scottsdale or Sedona in the future.

We live in Stow. Last summer we took the ferry over to Kelly's Island and had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Rented a gulf cart for the weekend and had great time touring the island, glacier grooves, winery, and doing a little shopping in the quaint little town. We stayed at a beautiful condo with pool and also walked the beach. If you've not yet done it, it could be a fun time.
