mom $ 12yr old daugh~ any suggestions?

I would like to take my 12 yr old daughter on a vacation. Any suggestions? Price doesn't really matter and we want to stay in USA ( preferable East Coast) location doesnt matter - at long as it is fun. Maybe shopping, spa, beach, ??? Thanks

It would help to know from where you're starting and where you've aleady been, not to mention time of year. ;)

Have you asked her where she would like to go? She may be very eager for some place that one of her friends went.

You are lucky. When I was that age I didn't want to even be seen with my mother!!

Took my 14 year old to a 5 star beach hotel in Palm Beach once. She loved it. We ordered room service one night, ate at a really dressy place one night ....did the spa .....beach and drove to Miami Beach for a day. It was great.

Well then Hershey Park and Hotel Hershey are just a stones throw away. What 12 year old girl doesn't love chocolate!?

Based on what my daughter and I like to do together, I'd suggest: shopping, manicure, theater (if she likes plays/musicals), nice hotel, etc. Perhaps NYC or Chicago? My daughter also loves the Mall of America, since it has the amusement park and aquarium along with all the shopping!

Just a note on Hershey:

Hershey Park is great at least once in a lifetime.

Hershey Hotel is not (in my opinion) worth the money. Although it is advertised as upscale, the hotel has become very "convnetion/conference" oriented. The bar is expensive but not impressive, and the spa is ok.
Not much as far as shopping or dining.

It would definitely help to know where about youd like to go.... I've done a bunch of little trips with my daghter whose 13 now. San Diego this summer was great. The Ritz in Puerto Rico also a good relaxing vacation. Chicago, spa museums. Orlando, sounds shildish but it stay at say the POrtofino Bay at Universal or The Yachet Vlub at Disney you can add some spa visits, hit the outlets, and pass a day or two at the parks.

I would certainly ask her input & have her do a little research/homework. Depending on time of year, Chicago (for city/culture & such), Asheville, NC (for outdoorsy/hiking/spas & such) or Amelia Island (for beach/quiant/reosrt stuff).
