Moki Dugway - Valley of the Gods
In July/August next we will be travelling through the southwest in a 27ft motorhome. We start in Las Vegas and fly back to Europe from San Francisco. We have 4 weeks in total and still have to choose what not to see and do. I spent hours reading the questions and answers on this forum and loved all the suggestions, remarks and comments. I think I know the answer to this one already, but is it possible (and wise) to do the Moki Dugway and Valley of the Gods with a 27ft motorhome? Same for Gobelin and Capitol Reef scenic road? Thanks for your help here.

We just returned from out that way. We had a mid-size SUV & were fine.

It may be a bit scary in a motorhome, but I don't know what your driving experiences are. It is quite breath-taking.

Hi Corine,
The Moki Dugway is a 11% grade with switchbacks and it's not paved. We have a 23 1/2 foot motorhome and I'm not sure I would try it. We have done it in a van before.
Here are some good links:

The Valley of Gods should be OK. Goblin is fine, infact it's almost all paved and what isn't paved is nicely graded and level. Capitol Reef is paved and you should be just fine.
Where else are you going on your 4 week trip?

Thanks both for your comments. I think we'll take the 'long' route to Natural Bridges; there will be enough excitement.
We start with 3n LV, 1n Kingman, 2n Grand Canyon, 1n Munds (East Rim, Wupatki,Sunset Crater, Montezuma), 1n Holbrook (Walnut Creek, Meteor Crater), 1n Chinle (Petrified Forest, Canyon de Chelly), 1n Monument Valley (tour), 4n Moab (Natural Bridges, Canyon Lands, Arches, Dead Horse), 1n Torrey (Gobelins, Capitol Reef), 2n Bryce, 2n Zion, 1n LV (Lake Mead, Valley of Fire), 1n Lee Vining (Mono Lake, Bodie), 3n Yosemite, 1n Manteca, 2n SF.
We made a similar trip 4 years ago, so we more or less know how hot it will be, what we can do on a day and (hopefully) still have some time to do nothing. If not, there will be plenty of time to rest when we get back.
If you have any further suggestions, please let me know.

We'll keep the tour in Canyon de Chelly in mind. I'm not sure we will do it as we want to do a tour in MV the next day. Did you prefer one over the other? As for Manteca, nothing special, we just stay there overnight.
