Mohegan Sun for Bachelorette Party -Need transportation from NYC
 

I am thinking of throwing a bachelorette party at Mohegan Sun. Here are my thoughts <BR><BR>1.The list is will be maximum 10 people<BR>2. early august date<BR>3. we are coming from NYC --I would like to get a limo (that wouldn't fit 10, though), so I need ideas for transportation (I don't want people to worry about driving)<BR>4. we would just stay for the day and have dinner and a cake at one of the restaurants (don't think people would want to spring for the room)<BR><BR>Any other ideas -- should I ask the guests (I don't know them very well) if they would like to stay over - or should I just stay over with the bride?<BR><BR><BR>thanks<BR>

On the Mohegan Sun website, they claim that if you call this number 1.888.320.4577, &quot;Our reservationists will accommodate your every transportation need quickly and efficiently.&quot; I think it's worth the call. <BR><BR>If that doesn't work, you probably want to call a local limo service to see if they have some type of van. In CT, there is CT Limo, which provides round-trip service to NY, but I don't know if they work in the other direction. <BR><BR>If you really want to stay over, I think you should pose the possibility to the group. For God's sake you're organizing the whole thing! The least they could do is fork over a little cash :) Whoever wants to participate can...leave the slackers behind.<BR>

I've seen some white stretch limos in Manhattan and elsewhere lately that are based on the Lincoln Navigator. These are huge vehicles - incredibly long. They unquestionably would fit ten people but the casino may well be able to help you find a less expensive option.

call a company called armonk limo in westchester<BR><BR>they have stretch limos for 10 or 12 people<BR><BR>probably aroung 75 bucks an hour plus 20% for driver<BR><BR>so like 1000 or more for the day i bet<BR><BR>good luck!<BR><BR>

So is $1000 for the ride considered a good deal?<BR><BR>Now how do I ask the others to chip in? SHould I just say it's $100 per person, if you want to go.... (plus dinner and gambling). I'll probably wind up paying the difference.<BR><BR>I'm the only one in the wedding party and I feel awkward about asking people to chip into the cost of the shower (bride's parent's are deceased) and then I guess people have to pay their own way for the bachelorette party.<BR><BR>Or should we just take the bus?<BR><BR>thanks

Have you considered renting a van for the party, and driving yourself? What about going to Atlantic City instead?

No - I don't want to drive ( i haven't driven in years).<BR><BR>I thought Mohegan Sun would be nicer than AC. Wouldn't we have the same problem with transportation?

I think you need to get a consensus from the people that you're inviting to this shindig. In this economy, you're expecting 8 others (plus yourself makes 9) to come up with $125 each for transportation, as they would also have to cover the bride's cost. Then they have to pay for their meals, gambling, and a gift for the bride. Then weeks later, they will have to have a wedding gift and pay for an outfit for themselves to attend the wedding. So, just the entrance fee for the bachelorette party comes to more than $200 for the day, and that probably doesn't include any gambling. That's steep. Besides, if people decline your invitation, then the $1000 transportation cost would be paid for by fewer people, and the cost would be greater per person. And if you end up having to pay more than what you project that you should, you may garner some animosity for the others.<BR><BR>I think you would be better off keeping this party simple. Why don't you plan a luncheon and go to see &quot;Hairspray&quot; instead. It would be a lot cheaper in the long run, and you wouldn't have to deal with the transportation issue.

I know I should keep it simpler, but my friend loves gambling. I don't really know any of her other friends.....<BR><BR>I'm already planning the bridal shower and am wondering if I should ask the MOG for a contribution (i think it would be tacky to ask, but if she offered...)

Why don't you rent a van and have someone you or the bride knows do the driving? Of course not as classy as a limo, but I am with the previous poster in respect to shelling out too much $$$ for a party when it could be done more economically, while still tasteful.

One possible way to cut the limo costs: Take Metro North to New Haven and hire a limo from there. I grew up near Mohegan Sun and when I'm in NY and want to go home I take the train from Grand Central to New Haven and then get a ride from there. Mohegan might even have a bus from there. If they don't, check Foxwoods, which is in the same area.

Although the bride might like to gamble, the other 8 people that you're inviting might not, which would really make the day boring. You really do need to get a consensus from the other people you're inviting, and especially about the budget. They may not be so willing to fork over a lot of money for an event that they are not going to enjoy. Not everyone likes to gamble, and the shops at Mohegan Sun are expensive. <BR><BR>One possibility is that you take the bride away for an overnight to Mohegan Sun on your own. You could also incorporate a day of beauty or facials and manicures into your plans. To make it more interesting, you could make this a Jack and Jill destination shower and also check the schedule at Mohegan Sun and see what entertainment is appearing there in the evening.

i put up the armonk limo thing <BR><BR>but instead of starting the party from NYC why not start it at Mohegan sun and get 3 or 4 hotel rooms ....say 125 a night.<BR><BR>Everyone meets there (carpool to get up there)<BR>Then you can rock all night, no one has to drive, the bride can gamble as long as she wants and the ones who don't want to can leave or go to bed<BR><BR>why blow the 1000 bucks just to get there and back???<BR><BR>take the money and have a good time at mohegan sun<BR><BR><BR>

You might want to rethink the locale. Mohegan Sun is really nothing special &amp; there is absolutely nothing to do there except gamble. And the restaurants are nothing to write home about either.
