Moderator fails

I have to make an actual post about this because the mods have failed today on two levels.

First, the report abuse feature has not worked properly for weeks. Every time I hit the triangle or the link I get a 404 error message.

Second, there are a lot of solicitations on the US board today.

Wow - a lot of weird ads - office cleaning, attorneys, etc. The orange triangle hasn't worked since Internet Brands started taking the site over. Once the site gets migrated to the new format, hopefully, there will be a way for people to report ads/spam/inappropriate content. There is a thread about this on the Help forum.

>>Second, there are a lot of solicitations on the US board today.<<

There were a whole bunch late last night but they were all gone by maybe midnight on the west coast. Were there more this morning? If so, they seem to be gone too.

BigRuss- They are not going to fix that feature. They announced it on a thread on the Forums Help branch.

So why does the triangle remain?

suze Aug 4th, 2017 08:48 AM

I don't know. You'd have to ask them.

Oh that's right, the contact function doesn't work (ha-ha).

Kathie Aug 4th, 2017 09:31 AM

Depending on your email address, the triangle works or not. It's a weird situation.

Janis, there were a bunch of ads when I signed on this morning. Strange ones - not the usual. I wondered why people posted them - post info about an office cleaning service in ABQ on a travel board?

suze Aug 4th, 2017 09:48 AM

<Depending on your email address, the triangle works or not.>

What? The triangle works for you? I have not seen anyone else post that. And the editors themselves said it isn't working and they know it.

jamie99 Aug 4th, 2017 10:47 AM

Shame they don't fix the triangle.

jamie99~ direct from the horses mouth :-)

"Because we are prepping for the migration to Vbulletin software this issue is not going to be fixed."

Kathie Aug 4th, 2017 11:21 AM

Suze, they told me that the problems was my email address. Maybe now it isn't working at all, I don't know. I only know that it doesn't work for me.

suze Aug 4th, 2017 11:45 AM

How long ago was that, Kathie?

Kathie Aug 4th, 2017 12:40 PM

I don't remember, maybe a month or so ago.

suze Aug 4th, 2017 01:04 PM

I'm pretty certain, at least now, that the triangle doesn't work for anyone. And hasn't for at least a few weeks (maybe more).

janisj Aug 4th, 2017 04:02 PM

T\In the past the triangle didn't work for just certain email addresses. But about a month or maybe 6 weeks so ago it quit working for EVERYONE and gets the 404 error message.

IB is not working on fixing it and they will not re-program anything to remove the triangles. We may not like it but complaining won't accomplish much. They are concentrating on the design and implementation of the new forums.

On the Help Forum Amanda did suggest that if you see an ad and it hasn't gone away in a while, to post a note on that thread and they will try to monitor that thread.

OK thanks suze. Looks like someone is keeping an eye out for spam cause I have not seen any in a day or two.
