Moab in March
We are thinking of going mtn. biking and hiking in Moab in March. What are our chances for decent weather at this time (clear skies, temps above 40)?
Also, one in our group wants a spa experience and the others want more down home. Could Dreamkeeper Inn pass as a spa? The Sorrel looks just too far out of town, and too expensive. Any thoughts or suggestions? |
Hi Weezie,
The Dreamkeeper Inn would not pass as a spa in any way, shape, or service. It's a lovely, cozy B&B with just 6 rooms, a nice pool and small hot tub and a big, wonderful, shady backyard. Great breakfasts, mountain bike storage. There are spas and massages available in Moab, but I would book ahead. High demand, although March is pretty quiet. March weather could be cold and rainy, but not colder than 40 daytime. I usually go in late April/early May or October. Yes, the Sorrel is a ways out, but gets good reviews. I much prefer to stay in town - if I'm not camping. |
Thanks for your response Dayle. It may be that March is the only time we can go. Last time I was there many years ago was in February and it was fabulous, but I think that was the luck of the draw.
I'm still a little concerned about the possibility of it being decent weather at that time.... Anyone else with input here? |
I have gone in March with beautiful weather, near seventy, only to wake up the next morning to a blanket of snow covering my sleeping bag.

We spent 5 days at the Sorrell River Ranch and it was a wonderful experience. Wonderful in the sense that we had many amenities and the location (our cabin on the Colorado River) was breathtaking. It was a great time of year in October as we were able to ride, and kayak the river, however, I'm not sure of the weather in March for these activities. All that being said, it was way to far out of Moab for my liking. We traveled to Arch's and Canyonlands etc. and the ride to and from Moab was beautiful but unnecessarily long. I would suggest you find a spot in town or decide you'll be happy with the commute. The ranch was expensive but we were treating our two adult children and the ability to see their expressions as they witnessed one of the most fantastic and beautiful areas of our country was well worth the price.

We've been in early March and it was beautiful. Sunny skies and jeans/sweatshirt type tempurates. My parents live a couple of hours away and they've had great luck in the spring, and then they've had rain in June too, so like anywhere, it just depends.

Thanks for your responses Dayle, eduardo, bogger, and luvabargain. We have decided to book 4 nights at DreamKeeper Inn for 3 of us gals. We are celebrating our 50th birthdays...35 years of friendship! We are coming from Washington State, Kentucky and Maryland, and our plan is to fly into SLC then drive down to Moab. Now, our next step is to plan our hiking/moutain biking/driving aspect of the trip.
