Mirage Suites

My husband & I are going to Vegas in February. Thinking about staying at the mirage in one of their suites.
Would like peoples opinions on the hotel, restaurants & also what the suites are like.
Any help would be great!!

Thanks in advance!! :)

Hi,

I was in a 1 bedroom Suite for 1 night in June.

The hotel is good in a good location mid strip across the road from the Venetian. and in between Treasure Island and Ceasars.

A slight negative point is that after registration you have to walk thorugh the " tropical forest ( dome)" and the casino to get to the elvators.
There are two separate banks of elevators ; one for floors 1-23 and one for 24-25 ( Tower Deluxe rooms and floors A-E ( suites). In this bank the floors 24-25 are the first elevators and the A-E floors serviced by the far end elevators.
You need to insert your room key, and turn it to the right in order to activate the elevator.
The 1BR suit is beautiful with a large living room ( CD player) with wet bar and a separate bedroom with a tv that comes out of the cabinet with the remote control.
The bathroom is large with a whirlpool bath and separate shower.
There is a walk in closet with a mirage robe.
A daily turndown service is provided ( with chocolates).
I only tried the buffet. While good ( $15 approx, I feel it has gone downhill since a few years ago ( then it was around $20). I found the food serving area crowded as they had closed one of the sections off.
Food quality was good although service at breakfast on of the days was slow ( no second servings of juice or coffee).
Spa and fitness room is good ($20 per day ) but shuts at 8pm
The pool area is very good ( only problem in June was a slight diificulty in finding a chair to lie down in .)
The pool is large with waterslide , waterfalls and a roped off area to do a few lane swims (15m approx) lots of palm trees.
The volcano goes off every 15 mins from dusk till about midnight.
There is also the Secret Garden and Dolphin exhibit ( $10 for both) and a white tiger ( free).

Overall the suites are very good, the hotel is in a great location but I preferred overall service at the Mandalay Bay ( South end of the strip)

However you should not be disappointed at the Mirage.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me ( or post follow up questions.)

Regards

On a sad note-I just heard that the Siegfried and Roy show has been cancelled indefinately as Roy was mauled onstage by one of the tigers during the performance I think yesterday. I was disheartened to hear such news. I was lucky enough to see one of their beautiful white tigers when last at the hotel.

My experience there is not a good one. First let me start out by saying that Steve Wynn use to own this property and it was great. He knew all his employees personally and he cared about the customers. My brother told me stories about how they would comp him for things and how great it use to be. Now that he sold it...ugh. The room i had was so small, the a/c was not working properly so the maintenance guys came up and checked it out, i talked with them for awhile and learned that the property had switched hands and they told me stories about how the new owner was not concerned about them or their families and was after the dollar and not pleasing the customer. Needless to say...that was my first and last stay at the Mirage. Then, a year later or so...i talked to a guy on a flight who turned out to be a maintenance guy for the Mirage also...he confirmed the stories the others had said. So...thumbs down to the Mirage.

I spent half a day at the Mirage in May. We ate lunch at the buffet. It had lots of variety to choose from, and the price was a good value for $16 per person. We will definitely go back next time!

We also spent quite a bit of time at the Secret Garden and with the dolphins. The baby dolphin, Maverick, was just too cute! The Secret Garden itself was neat, but the audio tour, narrated by Siegfreid and Roy themselves, was a bit much. Next time, we'll just read the placards and stroll!
