Mirage Nice? Venetian deals??

HELP.
Last minute trip for this weekend Sat-Tues.
The Mirage has a decent price at $159 for Sat and $99 for Sun/Mon. It is center strip which is nice, but is it getting old? How are the rooms? What types of people?
We really love the Venetian (and Bellagio) but their prices are coming up double the Mirage price. Is it worth it? We can spend that $350 on tickets to "O" and dinner.

Any way to get a special deal at Venetian?

Thanks.

People have been able to occasionally get the Venetian through Priceline or Hotwire. It is the only "5 star" strip property available on those sites. Somone claims to have gotten it for $79/nt a couple weeks ago though I'm sure that was weekday. Your Sat night stay will probably blow your chances. Mirage is nice.

I just stayed at the Mirage a few weeks ago. It was very nice, my room my large and clean ( I think they were renovated within the past few years). The bathroom was nice, not huge, but a good enough size. Service was also good, very friendly, no major problems.

The Mirage rooms were renovated last year. It's in a fantastic location and the pool is one of the best in Vegas.

Use the $20 trick when you check in, and you'll likely get upgraded to a king bed suite on the 24th or 25th floor -- private elevator, bigger room, bigger bathroom (w/jacuzzi tub).

Tansy,
How does one tastefully handle the $20.00 trick at check-in for an upgrade? We are staying at the Mirage in April and it would be great to be upgraded. Thanks so much.

I stayed at the Mirage in February and overall the rooms were nice. One piece of advice: our rooms were all the way at the end of the long hall, which was like a half-mile walk from the elevator. Try to get a room closer to the elevator so you don't have to make this ridiculous schlep.

Tansy's right. Mirage. $20 trick. Do it!

When they tell you where your original room is (garden view...) Then put your credit card on the counter. Put the $20 under the card so that it subtly peeks out from under. Say, "Is it possible there are any upgrades available?"

The reservationist will see the bill underneath, and the rest is history.

Just looked at Hotwire - 5 Star (The Venetian) for your dates $167 per night for Saturday - Tuesday.

Might be worth bidding on priceline to see if you can get it for $20ish per night cheaper.

Hotwire is showing $136 per night at the Venetian for Sun-Tues.Just do Saturday night seperately....

I got upgraded at the Mirage in December. Not on purpose; I had a regular reservation but apparently the upgrade was all they had. I wouldn't get excited about the jacuzzi. It's anemic and the water smells overwhelmingly of chlorine (to me). The room was perfectly nice; materials seemed new enough. The view from up there was absolutely spectacular. I looked south along the strip so could see both sunrise and sunset, plus lots of neon.
