Minskoff Theatre - The Lion King
 

Hello - I'm trying to get tickets for The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre and was wondering about the mezzanine seats. I hear they are not very good but the seats that come up on TicketMaster in the Orchestra are either to the very far left or far right. Can anyone tell me how far the mezzanine seats really are? Also, if you can't get middle seats in the mezzanine, will you miss alot of the stage? Thanks in advance.

First of all, stop trying to deal with the horrible TicketMaster website. Pick up the phone and call their 800 number. Then pick the brain of whomever you get. I have always gotten better seats that when their silly website keeps bringing up as "best available". For example sometimes they'll show you the last two seats of row P against the wall, when the first two seats off the aisle of row Q are still available. I actually prefer seats on the aisle of the side sections as much as same distance back in the center orchestra, as you have a more open view rather than heads in front of you. Print out the seating chart before you call, so you know what they are talking about.

You can be further to the sides in the mezzanine and still have full view of the stage, more so than their counterparts in the orchestra in my book.

Heed NeoPatrick's advice! He's right on the mark. It's no contest: Calling for tickets is better than the website route. End of discussion!

Agree with NP. Also, as a sidenote, I usually prefer mezzanine seating for a better overview of the whole production. (Plus I'm short; put one big-headed person in front of me in orchestra, and I might as well be wearing an eyepatch!) I saw <i>Joseph</i> back when it ran at the Minskoff and thought our front-mezzanine seats were great.

If you are using a discount code, can you still get seats by phone?

Yes, absolutely! Those codes are also good at the box office if you are in the city.

A general rule of thumb: Discount offers can be utilized three ways: on the phone, on line, in person at the box office.

And the only way to avoid the outrageous &quot;add on fees&quot; is to use them at the box office. Alas, difficult for those of us who live out of town and want to get advance tickets.

I haven't heard of The Lion King up yet at TKTS but you might go to the website and see what has been up lately.

The Lion King is still running pretty full. Also ask when you call Ticketmaster if any discounts are available.

Thanks again for the help. Just got off the phone with TicketMaster and managed to get third row of mezzanine, almost in the middle. Now I'll just keep my fingers crossed that no tall people sit in front of me. BTW, has anyone seen the show?

When we saw Mary Poppins, the ushers would show you where you could get booster cushions....I was under the impression that you could get those for any Disney show. Is that correct?

You should have no problems with tall people blocking your view in the mezzanine, as that level is tiered.
There are no discount tickets available for The Lion King. There never have been and probably won't be for quite a while!

Not sure if this will help or not, but we sat in the VERY LAST ROW of balcony a few years ago and were in awe of the staging. (Did have binocs). Sure, not front row center, as we have done in some shows, but I still remember it to this day with pleasure.

I thought The Lion King was great. one of the most visually creative things I'd ever seen! It is not just a children's show, by an means, IMO.

My husband and 2 sons (ages 7 and 11) saw Lion King last Satuday (2:00 Matinee - 7/25/07) and it was amazing! We had inner aisle seats to the right of the stage thinking that bathroom trips would be more do-able. WRONG! Because several times during the production, the actors come dancing down the aisles, there is a metal barrier on the aisle and our 7 year old had to crawl over 8 people to get to the outer aisle. Well worth the time and money though - truly amazing! Good luck - you'll LOVE IT!

Thanks to those that helped with my theatre question. I went to see &quot;The Lion King&quot; at the Minskoff and the seats were good. We were able to see everything just fine. The theatre itself isn't so large so that was good too. BTW, we sat in mezzanine level, third row, alittle off to the left of center.

we just saw the lion king in blaisdell honolulu. our favorite was the elephant, they were all great. our seats were in row v towards the middle. i'm glad we didn't sit behind the orchestra, those seats were below the stage. plus we brought our own snacks (water/arare). i couldn't see paying 3.50 for a small bag of peanuts.

I'm always astounded when someone calls The Lion King, a show for little kids -- or not for adults. Of course, sometimes (as on a very recent post) the person admits to boycotting anything Disney so obviously doesn't have a clue what The Lion King is. Nice to see several posts declaring once again that it is a show for adults as much (or perhaps even more so) as for kids.

I agree NeoPatrick, it was a great show both for adults and kids. Actually, most of the people who were around me were adults. I didn't see too many little kids (less than 10 or 11 years old) either.

The performers/actors were great. It was interesting to see how the converted an animated movie into a live production.
