Minnesota (south) travel suggestions needed
any recommendations for us - we are staying with friend in Marshall (Southeast). I'd like to find some other places to explore for hiking and biking. Traveling late Aug 2007

A day trip to Pipestone National Monument in Pipestone might be interesting. New Ulm is in a different direction but has some interesting history about it.
|
Isn't Marshall in the southWEST part of MN?
|
Yes, Marshall is SWEST-on our So Dakota side. :)
|
I second the day trip to Pipestone. If you decide to travel to New Ulm, stop at the Petroglyph site near Comfrey. Interesting history and prairie.
Also, if you're interested in Little House on the Prairie, Walnut Grove isn't too far from Marshall and Sleepy Eye is on the way to New Ulm. |
opps- SouthWEST. Thanks for the info everyone

Redwood Falls has a nice municipal park with miles & miles of hiking trails. There is a Upper Sioux agency state park is pretty with good hikes. (Heard they have tepee campsites).
|
Redwood Falls also has a nifty super club-The Valley. I spent a week in SW MN last Saturday, at least it seemed that way. A day trip to Pipestone? You could do that in a couple hours. It's really 90% cornfields and 10% small towns. I live in Minnesota so not complaining, just sayin'
