Minnesota - Route 35?

Hello,

We will be driving Route 35 from St. Paul area to Duluth. I am expecting a 3-hour drive. Is this accurate? Anything worth seeing along the way? I am debating whether to allocate a day for the ride, or if we should just "hurry" to our destination.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I would say that 3 hours will give you leeway to stop off and eat or what not on the way. In my opinion there is nothing very exciting to see along the way, your destination is going to be the most exciting part of the drive.

There is a scenic drive from Stillwater to Taylors Falls along the St. Croix River.

Taylors Falls is a nice town & has a lot of glacial history in the area.

There are some glacial potholes & some real short trails with scenic overlooks.

You could take Highway 95 from Taylors Falls to North Branch & get back on I-35 there.

152 miles. Speed limit 70MPH. Little in between.

I say just over 2 hours will do it.

Thank you for the feedback. A shorter drive sure is nice, since our then 18-month-old will be getting antsy in her car seat.

Most of us who live here just do pedal to the metal on this drive.

We generally count on 2.5 hrs for this drive and usually we're pretty much on point - unless it's winter. Agree with others that there's not much in between.

Hinckley = casino, the caramel roll at Tobie's (as mentioned) and an antique mall. That's Interstate 35 now, as in I35.
