Minneapolis to Nashville Road Trip
Traveling to Nashville this spring to visit son at Vanderbilt - road tripping with 2 other teenaged sons. Does anyone have an opinion on if it makes sense to stop and stay overnight and if so is there a cool place that is half-way? Or anyother cool stopping points of interest? Also, looking for ideas for teenaged boys while in Nashville.
Thanks!

Well, at about 12 hours I would drive straight thru, via St Louis. Interstates don’t work well and there’s no obvious direct way. The concept of linking stretches of different highways into “Avenue of the Saints” to connect St Paul with St Louis is a good one, but the route is only signed in Iowa and Missouri.
You could stop at the arch, or view it from across the river from Illinois. Very close to St. Louis is the fairly fantastic precolumbian site Cahokia Mounds, you could stop and climb an earthen pyramid.

Definitely get some hot chicken and/or bbq! My favorite for hot chicken is Hattie B's. Martin's, Edley's, and Jack's are the most popular bbq places in Nashville. Also recommend Five Points Pizza for amazing NY style pizza!
