Minneapolis in May

Thanks, All, for your suggestions for my Minnesota visit last November. We timed it just right for the first winter storm of the season. If you remember, I was visiting at that time of year because my niece was playing the lead in Cabaret in her college production. Now we are headed there again for her graduation. Better weather there now, I hope! I will be in Minneapolis for just a few days, so it seems to me that the quickest way to see the most is on a city tour. Any good tour company you can recommend? What about a nice dinner treat for a woman alone?

Leburta, I cannot recommend a tour company. I do not use them and we had so much snow this year that I'm sure the Mississippi river boat tours will not be operating in May. Do you drive? The twin cities are easy to navigate, especially with a GPS. The arbitoriums will be in full swing when you are here and the King Tut tour is at the Science Museum in St. Paul. What are your interests? As for a treat I guess ice fishing is out of consideration! If you are going to take the graduate out for a special dinner treat I can recommend a couple of places. If you like to shop even a little bit I know you can spend a whole day at the Mall of America, or there is the outlet mall in Albertville, about 30 minutes from Minneapolis. There is a little river town about a hour west of Minneapolis called New Ulm that would make a nice road trip if you like small shops and German style architechture,or Stillwater, or Anoka,or Edina, or Hopkins, they all have little shops/malls to shop in. There is a spa near where I live that is nationally ranked as one of the top spas in the nation(1 1/2 hours west of Minneapolis)called birdwing spa.

We were in Minneapolis in May back on 09 and took a couple of sightseeing tours, a Twin City Highlights tour and a Mississippi River tour. Luckily we had great weather and enjoyed them throughly.

The city tour takes you through Minneapolis and St. Paul along with some of the outskirts and suburbs. The river tour takes you through locks similar to the Panama Canal but on a much smaller scale of course.

The city tour is 3 hours and the river tour is also 3 hours. You can do the city tour only if you prefer. I've attached a link below for the tour company. Enjoy.

Leburta,

I was in Minneaspolis last year and did the metroconnections city tour from the Mall of America which I enjoyed. Don't think I had the option to do the River Tour, or at least I didn't see it at the time. It was good and I would recommend it.

Leburta, In which area of town are you staying? Would be happy to give restaurant recommendations. Give me a bit more detail.
