Minneapolis- Best Western Normandy Inn

Hi all- I am making a long weekend trip to Minneapolis in early September and need a reasonably priced, centrally located hotel. I will not have a car so a good downtown location is key. This hotel offers a good rate and seems to fit the bill. Does anyone have any info or experience with this property? It is located on South 8th Street.
Thanks.

This is downtown and not too far from Nicollet Mall and the action, however the last time I stayed there (many years ago) it was getting very run down and the neighborhood wasn't the very best either. I would recommend you use Priceline for downtown Mpls. and you will get a better hotel I am sure. Good Luck!

I've stayed at the Normandy. It's OK, but did seem a bit tired at that time. The location is really good for walking to a lot of things -- shopping, dining, skywalks, convention center. I've also stayed at the City Center Mariott, Omni, and Hilton. Am sure someone on this site has more experience there than I do.

I live in Mpls. and it wouldn't be my first choice either. Try for something more to the western side of downtown.

Thanks to all for the info. I will look elsewhere. I usually do use Priceline. I would like a hotel with a pool near the convention center.
