Minn/St Paul Airport Advise

We will be changing planes at msp. Arriving on NWA on Sunday 9:30 & departing at 1:15pm. With 2 teenage boys we thought about going to the Mall of America in order to kill some time. Our wait time is almost 4 hours. Do you think this would be safe or should we just hang out at airport? Also what means of transportation? Thanks, john

There's a light rail at the airport that will take you to Mall of America in about 11 minutes. The mall is enormous. You could head into the mall to grab something to eat and leave. I wouldn't hang out at the Mall too long. The light rail runs every 10 to 15 minutes.

We had the same situation this past summer & the time spent at the MoA helped the time pass faster. There is a tram that runs the route so catch it & enjoy. Takes about 15 minutes to make the route. After 10:00am various entertainment going at various locations in the Mall so shopping isn't the only thing to do.

When you factor time in that you will need to go back through security, are you sure there is enough time to go? At most, you would have 2 hours including time to go back and forth, when you factor in time getting off the plane and getting to the tram.

I work as a travel advisor at the MSP airport and I want to tell you that people do it all the time and enjoy it. i would say if you have 3 hours or more it is worth it.

This may depend on whether you're transferring domestic - domestic or domestic - international. If there's no international flights involved, I'd agree with above comments.

On Sunday, the Mall opens at 11:00am - is that worth it?

You might be surprised at how many stores are at MSP; plus some fun restaurants, like Ike's. :)

Actually the retail stores open at 11:00am; the amusement park at 10:30am and the Mall itself-doors open at 7:00am.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 05:20 PM.
