Milwaukee hot spots
Will be visiting my old home town in July...haven't been there in 20 yrs. Need suggestions for hot new restaurants to try!
Also...what does one wear to Germanfest? Gee, I no longer have my drindle ha ha ha! |
A newer restaurant in downtown Milwaukee is a place called Moe's - on Plankinton Avenue. My Son says great food. As for German Fest - what to wear - In Wisconsin - the weather can change in a matter of minutes - I would check weather - right on the lake can get cool especially at night. And of course go to Leon's for custard - Everyone who comes to town to visit - always hits Leon's (was on Food Channel) Enjoy.

If you'll have "localguy" with you (or reasonable facsimile, he'll need lederhosen. For those who want a sneek peak at that garb, check here:

I'm also coming home for a bit in August.
I'll try Moe's. The restaurant at Hotel Metro was very nice when I was there last. |
The third ward is really growing--more and more restaurants and galleries. We like Coquette Cafe, Sauce and The Palms. Water Street has lots of bars, very popular with the 20 and 30 somethings. For a fancy meal, I'd chose Sanfords or Eddie Martini's. The area around 6th and National has lots of Mexican restaurants--La Perla is always fun. Singha Thai in West Allis is my favorite Thai place. What kinds of places do you like?
