Milwaukee German?
I need a restaurant to take an old buddy and his parents and son to in Milwaukee. I don't know the city well but I do know it has a great number of super German restaurants. Any suggestions?

I haven't been there for many years -- but probably the most well known is:

Mader's Restaurant 1037-41 N. Old World Third St.
Milwaukee, WI 53203
414-271-3377

Mader's
--OR--
Gasthaus in Waukesha (a suburb)

How is Karl Ratzsch's these days? It used to be great food, decor, music but it has been a long time since I went there.
|
If I remember correctly Karl Ratzsch's closed within the last couple years.
|
Everytime we visit Milwaukee, we look to go to Maders. I am assuming it is still very much in business.
|
Karl Ratzsche's closed ???? Please someone confirm this. I remember eating there many times about 15 years ago. Is Mader's the only place in town now?
|
Ratzsch's is definitely still open. I was in Milwaukee last weekend. Mader's is a major food disappointment these days. Go, look at the decor and run! They tried to "upscale" their menu and failed miserably. Try the Historic Turner Restaurant. Lowkey, fun surroundings and some German specialities. The Ger. restaurant that indeed is closed is the John Ernst Cafe.

The Raztsch family also used to operate the Fox and Hounds, neat country restaurant nw of Milwaukee in Hubertus...is that still around? Quality???
|
Yes, it's still open and good.
