The Omni is an older hotel that tends to have small rooms - but I can highly recommend the martinis at the bar.
The Millenium was called the Bostonian when I stayed there 8 years ago. I loved it. I was impressed then with its high end linens, the check in desk rather than a counter, the really nice Seasons restaurant. Its an unusual property because portions of the building are about 20 years old and the remainder were made from 200 year old warehouses. The hotel looks over Quincy Market, is very close to the subway and the North End and the waterfront. Can't give you any recent info on the place and it has changed hands since I stayed. You should also know that the Haymarket operates just outside the door of the Millenium/Bostonian on Saturday and Sunday. The Haymarket is an open air fruit and vegetable market that has been operating for at least 100 years. When the Bostonian was built they tried to move the Haymarket away from their building but were unsuccessful. I think it adds to the atmosphere of the hotel but it also has its downside - like squished fruit on the sidewalk. Actually that squished fruit has been bronzed and inplanted into the sidewalk. |
based on what you told me. The Millenium sounds like a good choice. Let's see what others say.

Tina, why not try searching Fodors for past threads about these popular hotels? The Omni is known locally as the Parker House.
