Mileage point card for Target purchases?
Hello,
I recently heard that you can earn extra airline mileage points by shopping at big stores like Target. I do all of my shopping at Target, groceries, home decor, etc. Which airline credit card or point program is the best for earning mileage points when shopping at Target? Thanks! |
Whatever card for whatever airline that works best for you. Getting points at Target is no different than getting points at any store so far as I'm aware.

I use my American Express Black Card whenever I shop at Target!

Um, that's the Centurion Card . . . peasant.

1) Aside from just using a normal credit card, you can also earn miles when shopping online with most US carriers. They all have some manner of shopping portal and if you just click through, you will earn extra miles as well.
2) If you really do buy all that stuff at Target, then my personal recommendation is to ditch the mileage card and get the Target card. It gives you 5% off everything, every day. The savings comes right off the bill, it isn't a rebate. I collect miles and points, but you'd be hard-pressed to get a better return than the Target card once you factor in the time value of money and the search costs to redeem an airline award. |
I should clarify. I still use a mileage card (more accurately, a points card - we use the Hyatt Visa and Starwood Amex) pretty much everywhere else. It is only at Target that we have and use the store card.

thanks so much for all of you responses, this is very helpful!

In addition to the 5% off, the Target card also entitles you to free shipping.

And, IIRC, a longer return window. It is an awesome card. |
I also only use my Target card at Target, the 5 pct off (and free shipping) is worth more than any points any other card will give you.
