Midway to Downtown Marriot (NMA)- Cab or shuttle
Hey,
We are staying at the downtown Marriot on North Michigan Aveune, and wondering the best/least expensive way to travel from Midway to the hotel. There will be three of us, wondering if a cab split three ways might be cheaper than the shuttle, which I believe is $16 per person. Anyone know what a cab from the airport to NMA usually costs? It will be mid to late afternoon. Jeanette |
Even with the traffic, you will be able to do better than $16 a head via cab.

Jeanette,
Take the El for $1.50 each one way. Do a Google search for Midway Airport (probaly midway.com would get it). It will provide all of the details. A taxi would run around $40.00. Curious |
If you don't have alot of luggage take the El. If you have alot of luggage, a cab will be cheaper than the shuttle for 3.

Take the El orange line from Midway to Clark/Lake, transfer to the Red Line (north toward Howard) and get off at the Chicago station. The Marriott is a block and a half to the east.

martytravels has his directions all mixed up. The closest Red line exit is GRAND Ave., but it's really not worth transferring for such a short ride (you'll have to do 2 sets of stairs to transfer.)
Take the Orange line from Midway, which goes clockwise around the Loop, and get off at State and Lake. You can grab a cab from there if your luggage is a problem, but if you can walk a half mile, I recommend it! It's a beautiful and exciting introduction to Chicago. Walk north to the river (1 block), turn right for 2 short blocks, and then left to cross the Michigan Avenue bridge where the white Wrigley Building stands guard. The hotel is less than 2 blocks north of the river, on the west (Wrigley) side. |
