Midway Airport Hotel?

Which is the best hotel closest to Midway? Looking for a nice indoor pool, safe location, clean and modern hotel. I really don't care how much it'll cost as it's only for 1 night. Also, we'll have a rental car. Thanks

Midway Airport, as in Chicago? <BR>I would not recommend staying in that area if you have a rental car. <BR>Lots of good options within 15 minutes drive. If you've got a rental car, why not head up to Michigan Avenue and enjoy the city? <BR>Regardless, the Midway area is not a great area to stay in, esp if you're emphasizing 'safe', and I doubt you'll find any 'nice' indoor pools anywhere within miles of there.

I have never had to stay near Midway, but here is a site with info: <BR>http://lodging.realhotels.com/chicag...ay__Hotels.htm <BR> <BR>The area is not touristy; it's modest, tidy homes and businesses. You may enjoy something like Oak Park more.

Janice, you must be quite a driver if you can make it from Midway Airport to Michigan Avenue in 15 minutes! :) Yikes! Although the Midway Airport area hasn't always been a great area, it has certainly cleaned up over the past few years. You won't find anything along the lines of a Drake Hotel, but there are a few new places to stay in that immediate area. I'm thinking there is a Holiday Inn & two others right together there, just down the street from the airport. If you have an early flight, those would be my choices. If you have more time, then I would choose to stay in another area with more fun things to do.

Thanks for the replies. Kim where would you recommend. Not too interested in going downtown as we have a early afternoon flight. Looking for a good hotel in the suburbs with pool. An area attraction that would be fun for kids would be a plus!!

The south end of Michigan Avenue is a whole 8.5 miles from Midway Airport. <BR>There are decent suburban hotels (Hyatt Oak Lawn and similar) within 15 minutes from Midway (opposite direction). <BR>A shame to waste a stopover in Chicago near that airport when downtown is so close. Catching an afternoon flight is not difficult, even if you left downtown by 9AM and your flight was at 1:00 you'd have ample time to sit around and do nothing.

Why not head due east and stay in Hyde Park, home of the University of Chicago, situated on the Midway? You could take the kids to the Museum of Science and Industry, the original hands-on museum. <BR> <BR>You could stay at the Ramada Inn Lakeshore or a couple of suite-like spots. See <BR>http://www.hpchamber.com/hotels.htm <BR> <BR>Here are the university's Chicago and neighborhood links: <BR>http://www.uchicago.edu/uchi/chicago-hp/ <BR> <BR>Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House, on East 58th Street, is worth seeing: <BR>http://www.wrightplus.org/robiehouse/index.html <BR> <BR>The original "Monsters of the Midway" played in Stagg Field, where Enrico Fermi and friends later gave birth to the Atomic Age. You can ponder this while looking at a Henry Moore statue at the site. See <BR>http://www.hydeparkhistory.org/default.html <BR>for this and other info. <BR> <BR>
