Midway Airlines
I heard yesterday that Midway Airlines went out of business. We have 3 free tickets to go anywhere in US. What should I do?? I contacted the company via email but, haven't heard from them. Does anybody know what happens with those tickets? I don't feel I should be asking for a refund because I didn't paid for them. Please fodorites share your knowledge with me on this matter.
You seem a little behind the times as Midway filed for bankruptcy approximately 3 months ago with no definite date for final closure. Following the attacks of Sept.11 and grounding off all flights, Midway announced on Sept. 11 that they would not reopen when airports were up and running again. I think you are too late to get anything. Had you called a couple of months ago during their closure and reorganiztion process they might have been able to arrange something, but you are probably out of luck now!

Though Midway is probably gone forever, the president of the company is hoping to get some of the Federal money to boost airlines (Congress approved legislation last week).

You could call Midway at (800) 44-MIDWAY or (919) 595-MDWY.
For the record, Midway was still flying up to Sept. 11 and had hopes of surviving under reorganization. It was the Sept. 11 events that finished it for good and certain.

Irma, sorry to say that you are S-O-L. S*** out of luck...

Free tickets are worthless when the company stops flying. No one else will accept them.

Thank you for all your responses anyway. My guess is that I'm out of luck as Newsie & Jim suggested.

Irma, if it's any consolation it's happened to lots of us. I had a couple of Pan Am tickets when they folded. Repeated this trick a few years later when Kiwi folded. :-(
