“Middle age” ladies trip to FL beach end of March

A group of 6-8 flying into either Orlando or Fort Lauderdale looking for a fun beach town within an hour of airport. Recommendations? I realize most areas will be busy this time of year, but we would prefer a cute beach town as opposed to concrete and high rises. Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond!

New Smyrna beach, there is a Hampton Inn on Flagler. Great places to eat, shop and nice beach.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea might be a fit in some ways (no high rises). I'm not sure I'd call it "cute" however. Perhaps further north. Why are you insisting on Orlando or FLL as the fly-in spot? Would you consider somewhere along the lower Gulf coast instead?

We are not tied to the east coast. Open to anything within an how urs drive to an airport serviced by Allegient. Orlando, Ft Laud, Tampa, punta Gorda.....

Someone recommended Vero Beach. Thoughts?

I was thinking either Sanibel or Captiva but it may be too quiet for you. Have a great trip regardless
