Mid-town East NYC Restaurant Suggestions Please
From suggestions given here I had excellent dinners on my last trip to Manhattan (thank you!). I have a close friend with 20 y-o daughter leaving for a first visit in ten days and she has asked for restaurant help. They will be staying near 8th Ave & 34th St. Any suggestions for great restos generally in the area at about $50 pp including tax and tip? No food restrictions, no chains thanks, and they love to try new foods. Thanks so much.

"Mid-town WEST", sorry.
|
And they love Korean bbq, I have eaten it at their home. Thanks, Sue.
Any others? |
It's not an area with a ton of good eating places - modest/moderate good ones are found in droves along 9th ave in the 40s - and in more residential areas.
|
nyt, thank you for that. Not an area where I would stay but they need to be budget conscious and found a hotel which was well priced. Have you got specific recommendations for 9th ave & 40s?
|
We've had good luck with Cara Mia on 9th.

Mercato for Italian.

Vincenzo, thank you for the Cara Mia suggestion.
McLaurie, that took some time and I'm very appreciative - I'm sure they will be as well. |
McL, just took a quick peek at Menu Pages, what a great site. Can't wait to try it out myself, hopefully in a few months. Thanks again.

I like these two places:
Anejo Tequileria and kashkaval Garden http://anejonyc.com/ http://www.kashkavalgarden.com/ |
If you don't want Korean BBQ, the go south to Chelsea or north to Times Square. There are loads of places in both areas. But the Herald Square area is a culinary wasteland.

Thanks, Abs and Doug, I'll pass your info along.
