Mid 20's Honeymoon
 

I'm looking at a honeymoon in late October and am intrigued by Hawaii due to its combination of beaches as well as other activities such as volcanoes etc. I have been once before and food/beverages can be very expensive on the islands. Does anyone know of a good all inclusive package?

There are no all-inclusives in Hawaii with the exception of one very remote place in Hana, Maui which is not an AI in the sense that you would expect in someplace like the Caribbean or Mexico, most people stay in either a hotel or condo and rent a car to drive around and sightsee, not hole up in a compound.
The only active volcano is on the Big Island, Hawaii, but it has not been really active (no live lava flows, etc.) in over 9 months so if you choose to visit that island, set your expectations accordingly. It is worthwhile to visit still though.

While there aren't all-inclusives in Hawaii like you find in Mexico or the Caribbean you can keep costs down easily enough by carefully choosing where you stay, where you eat, what activities you do. Hawaii doesn't have to break the bank.

You could also consider a condo or house and do some of your own cooking. Ingredients such as fresh tropical fruit and fish are inexpensive relative to mainland prices for the same items. Imported items will be very expensive. Also restaurants in resort areas are expensive. Find out where locals eat wherever you end up.

I'd avoid Big Island during the Ironman -- begins Oct. 10.

You need flights, lodgings, and a rental car everywhere outside of Honolulu.

How long can you stay in the Islands? What's the budget for lodging? (If you need to stretch it, do consider a condo for at least part of your stay. Some honeymooners stay in a condo while they are out touring and doing activities, then book a posh hotel when they can stay on the property.)

I think Waikiki/Honolulu is the best place for a less expensive trip. You don't absolutely have to have a rental car (like you do on the other islands) because public transportation is good.

There are so many hotels, and some of them are budget friendly ($125-150/night range).

There's lots of reasonable places to eat if you stick to casual local style like plate lunch, Korean BBQ, food courts, farmers markets, grocery store, etc.

inakauai, I was aware of the volcanic activity in the Pahoa area, but did not think the area was accessible to visitors via hiking in due to the locals who are living there. Not even sure if the helicopters are flying over the area now. Hope someone can provide some updated info for the OP.
