:) Okay, that would be strange.

But it is so dark and cold and gloomy here!

Come down and visit here instead - it's supposed to be 70 degrees all day this weekend! We have a medieval festival going on. Huzzah! :)

We will be in Naples in mid-February. I need sun and warmth! And pina coladas on the beach. Ahhh...

That's a great time for it. Warm your bones!

If you still haven't decided on a venue and you don't have a particularly large crowd, you might want to check out the Longacre House. It's an historical building in Farmington Hills, a suburb NW of Detroit, and it's a cool location for weddings, luncheons, showers, etc. I've been to a luncheon there--very nice.

Check out the website at www.longacrehouse.org if you like.

An alternative for the wedding itself might be any one of the small chapels in the area; they are often in strip malls, but can be very nice, and the staff can provide someone to perform the ceremony and probably offer suggestions for banquet halls nearby for a reception. You might just Google wedding chapels in Michigan. One I recall (and I think near the Longacre House) is called The Little Wedding Chapel.

Hope this info helps.

and to GreenDragon,

Why not come here in the winter?? Michigan has great winter activities: skiiing (downhill and cross-country), sledding, snowshoeing, etc. It's lots of fun if you bundle up!

Michigandra - Michigan can be a lovely place in the winter and interesting to visit for people that live without snow. But come on! It was 10 degrees this morning. :)

Yes, I remember Michigan winters. I used to think the two weeks we got off from school in the winter was so we could be home sick - because I was, every time, with bronchitis. I remember visiting several years ago - I came back with strep throat and my husband came back with pneumonia. Thanks, I'll stay warm and toasty!

Kelliebellie,

I can't argue with you there--right now it is WAY too cold! 'Course, it's not usually this cold. I don't mind if it's in the 20's or 30's.

A few years back I thought very briefly about a possible job opportunity in Minnesota. Too cold there for me. At least the Great Lakes State is generally a bit warmer in the wintertime.
