Michigan Mittens
I just posted on another thread the other day about Michiganders using their hands to point out where they're from or going. Well, today I learned that some Michiganders are now selling mittens with maps of Michigan for the upper and lower peninsulas, with designations for major cities. What fun! Check out www.michiganmittens.com.
It's a wonder someone hasn't done this before. One of the ideas that makes you wonder why you didn't think of that. |
Something along that line was available in gift shops in the '60s.

I don't have an actual hand warming kind of mittens, but many of us have those mitten shaped pot holders ("oven glove" with the lower P map printed on one side and the upper P map printed on the other.

Those are adorable, but I see the UP gets screwed again! The mitten isn't long enough for the entire thing, right? They get so upset about things like that. Can't blame 'em, eh?

kelliebellie,
You're right about the UP; hadn't noticed that. The UP really does get short shrift all too often. Brings to mind a couple of years ago when I was looking for some stickers of the 50 states for scrapbooking. Was I ever disgusted when the first batch I found forgot the Upper Peninsula. Jeez! How can you forget a whole peninsula! Michigan is more than just the mitten. |
It does get left off all the time! Da Yoopers Tourist Trap sells lots of stuff with the UP and no bottom part of the state.
