Michaelangelo in New York

Hi

From another thread I was given the idea of booking the Michaelangelo hotel in New York for my honeymoon. Had a look at it and it looks perfect. It's for 4 nights (Check In Tues - Check out Sat - Tues, Wed and Thurs fall in midweek rate, Fri in weekend rate) next July. Emailed them and got the following offers of rates
Deluxe Room with King size bed - $260 midweek, $225 weekend
or
Executive Room with small sitting area - $275 midweek, $240 weekend.

No idea on the types of rooms there so wondering if anyone can help me out with which room is the better deal?

Thanks

Martin

I have not stayed here personally, but some of the people I work with have stayed at the Michelangelo. I have heard very good things about it. Nice rooms, great location and a very nice atmosphere.

Have you looked at their website: www.michelangelohotel.com?
There are some pictures and better descriptions of the rooms there, but I'm not sure which is which. You might want to look at them and then email them to ask which type room has the love seats in the picture. But I suspect that is a junior suite.

I've only stayed once in a "superior room", their lowest category. And although it was very dark, facing a building quite close, the room and bath were still quite large, especially by New York standards.

I stayed there last November in the Studio which they charged $260 for Friday to Sunday night, however they wanted $535 for the Thursday night, so we stayed elsewhere that night. (Mayflower-blah). I can't say enough great things about the Michelangelo. I would recommend you asking them about the Studio at the rate we paid. Good luck and have fun.

I second Patrick's suggestion--look at the website closely, then call them to clear it up. I would also note that the difference in price is small; if it were me, I'd book the larger room.
We stayed there for my husband's 40th b'day. I think I booked the executive room, judging by the rate, but I told everyone I spoke to that we were celebrating a big b'day and that I'd appreciate their help in making our stay extra nice. My cheese-eating efforts were rewarded with an upgrade to a junior suite, plus every staff member we met wished hub a Happy Birthday--nice indeed!
Happy Honeymoon!

I think the last room pictured on the "Rooms & Rates" page of their website is a Studio. Not sure what the Executive rooms look like. But based on our stay there last year, I think the Michelangelo is a great choice.
