Miami Trip

Where is a good hotel location that is walking distance to shops/restaurants/fast food places, and also maybe beachfront? Never been, planning for early June, 5 days.I am probably going for flight and hotel package but do not want to rent a car. Any suggestions.

Try South Beach; you can walk to everything. Many people here can give you recos for hotels there if you post back with what type of hotel you're looking for and budget.

South Beach is a really trendy, fun area with tons of restaurants and shops. The north end is a little less J-Lo crazy party than the south. We stayed at the Lowes Hotel and loved it. It is right on the beach on the north end. Emeril's restaurant was in it and the food was pricey, but absolutely worth it. Rates at Lowes vary dramatically depending on time of year. Check their website for the lowest rates.

The only problem is that South Beach is pretty far from the airport. A taxi might cost a bit, but hotels around there would have high parking charges. Maybe they have shuttles?

We stayed at Park Central at the very south of South Beach. Very satisfied and would recommend it.
