Miami to Key West by car.

Hello guys: How long a drive is it from Miama to Key West and would it be easier to go from Ft. Lauderdale? Thanks, Larry

jacketwatch, best case scenario on a sunny day during the week, 4 hours. I don't think leaving from FLL or MIA makes a huge time difference but FLL is an easier trek to the turnpike.

Thanks very much. How far is Key Largo from Miami and do you know how it is as a vacation choice? Any comments appreciated.

Key Largo is my first stop in the keys after MIA or FLL at Alabama Jacks on Card Sound Road.

To be honest, I've never stayed in Key Largo. We are huge Islamorada fans.

We've driven between Miami and Key West lots of times and it always seems to take 4 hours.

I've never heard anyone suggest that Key Largo is a great vacation spot.

If you're really into Scuba or snorkeling, then Key Largo is a great base. Otherwise, there isn't much there.

We love Key Largo, but are there for R&R only - there isn't much to do and that suits us just fine. But pick a Key, any Key - you can't go wrong!

I prefer Islamorado to Key Largo. It just depends on what you like to do. If you want to snorkel or dive, Key Largo should be just fine.

My brothers say that Alabama Jacks has the best conch fritters they've ever had -- you can actually find conch in them! LOL

We had conch at Alabama Jack's last November. They weren't even fritters, they were breaded strips of conch. Absolutely great. And huge portions. It was absolutely pouring rain the day we were there, no patio dining that day. Does anyone have any idea if they might be open on Thanksgiving day? Jean
