Miami,Atlanta,orSan Diego
 

I might be planning a trip to either Miami,Atlanta,or San Diego.Which one should I go to.I live in northern Minnesota so I'm looking for a warm place.I'm also a sports fan.Which place do you think I would most enjoy.

Drew, <BR> <BR>Don't know what kind of things you enjoy doing or seeing however if that were my three choices I think I would choose San Diego. Atlanta can get cold in the winter (but probably would not seem so bad to you coming from Minnesota). Atlanta is a nice enough place to live and when there are particular events going on there it is a fine place to be. There are lots of good restaurants, a multitude of shopping alternatives, Stone Mountain Park, just to name a few things that are desirable there. But San Diego beats it hand down. The zoo, the ocean, Coronado, etc. Close to Tijuana if you want to brave it. The weather there is supposedly nice all the time practically. I've never been at this time of the year but I've been told it is good. Personally I just don't care that much about Florida period. No matter where you are talking about. Don't think I have ever been in Miami proper but it is in Florida and so I have never really had a desire to go there. That is of course my opinion. I'm sure others feel differently. <BR> <BR>Good luck! <BR>

San Diego hands down. I live in San Diego but have also lived in SE Florida ( Ft. Lauderdale area ). San Diego may be pretty cool in the winter but it will probably feel warm to you. We do get some hot spells even in January. Like the previous poster, I am not a big fan of Florida. Atlanta, I can't comment on as my only knowledge of Atlanta is their baseball team the 'Braves'. <BR> <BR>San Diego has a wide choice of activities and sights to see plus it is a beautiful city. Great restaurants.

Drew, <BR> <BR>Atlanta is a nice place to reside and there are lots of opportunities here but if you don't go straight to San Diego, you will have made the wrong choice buddy!

I live in Atlanta and while I love living here, I would not consider it a prime vacation spot. San Diego is very nice - we went last March. The beaches are great, but it doesn't get as warm as its southern location would suggest (it's always warmer in LA to the north for some reason). <BR>Don't rule out Miami, though. It has the best chance of being warm enough to sit on the beach and most areas of Miami are not as cheesy as the rest of the state. If you do go, be sure to stay in South Beach, not Miami Beach which is way over developed. South Beach has better beaches, better nightlife and a funkier atmosphere. Great restaurants/bars/nightlife can be found at the beach or in numerous different neighborhoods in the city. San Diego may be a little safer and cleaner, but only Miami will provide that tropical feel. <BR>

I live in San Diego. The reported temperatures in San Diego are relatively lower because of where they are measured. The official tmeperature in San Diego is measured right down on the water which is considerable cooler. The temperature in Los Angeles is measured inland quite a distance from the ocean. In Southern California the temperature varies a great deal depending on the proximity to the coast. Inland areas have warmer days but cooler nights unless a Santa Ana is in effect. I live in an inland valley in the northern area of metro San Diego. In the winter, we often have the temperatures range from the 30's at night to the 80's during the day.

<BR>Miami has the weather, the beaches, and the nightlife. Not only that, but you are flexible to catch any of the cruises for 2 or 3 days, to the Bahamas or longer, to the Caribbean, and have a great time in one fo the ships. <BR>Crime in Miami has been overstated for many years. It has it's share of crime like any other big american city. You avoid the "bad sections" of the city, and you will enjoy a wonderful vacation. <BR>I've heard great things about San Diego, specially the weather. Miami can get a little "too warm" for snowbirds. But this is TROPICAL weather! <BR>Good luck!
