Miami Airport Question

I have been to Miami, but I have never connected through MIA, I know the airport is huge.

I am flying on AA and and I have a connection of one and a half hours from a domestic flight to an international flight. From what AA can tell me, the flight arrives into concourse E and my international flight departs from the same terminal.

I know the headaches of having a tight connection at big airports. What experience do fodorites have connecting in MIA, I am concerned that I could miss my connecting flight or my bag maybe be left in the US.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming your domestic flight is on time, you'll have about an hour to waste at a restaurant/bar/store. Connecting dom to int is no different then connecting dod to dom.

but that said, gate assignments do change all the time, so listen to the FA announcement just before landing. S/he will announce all the connecting flight gates. Also check the nearest departure board once you deplane.

Don't worry, you should be fine.

I connectt in MIA on AA during a June trip and it was a piece of cake. But, as noted above, be sure to monitor the gate assignments on the departure boards.

I am glad things have improved. I made a numnber of connections from a domestic flight to an international flight and they were awful at MIA. I have not done this in four years.

It was pure chaos especially if you go back through security. One time I did not know what to do with the bags again because the lines were long and I asked a bellman who said he would take care of them and simply disappeared with them behind a door. These were usually with AA.

Have the lines for security gotten shorter, they were up to one hour during the day?

What was the procedure when returning and passing through customs?
