Miami

I am planning a trip to Miami in July, departing from San Francisco, any recommendations? What should I choose as my first restaurant?

Miami is large, what area will you be in? I'm not likely to give you great advice, since I live farther north in Central Florida, but you might get some responses with a little more detail. Also, are there particular cuisines you are interested in? Guessing Cuban is on your list?

Yes, I like Cuban food, and I also like some Asian food. I am planning to go to Miami Beach - South Beach. Do you know that area?

I didn't eat any restaurant food when I visited the Miami area. I visited a Publix grocery store at least once. I did the guided tour of the Art Deco district in Miami Beach. The guided pointed out stuff I wouldn't have noticed on my own. When I went to the Jewish museum, the staff forgot to tell me about the talk but then I overheard the person saying the talk was starting; you might want to check when the talk will start before you arrive, unless you just want to read the plaques on your own and skip the talk. There was no extra charge for the talk. The world erotic museum in Miami Beach might have been worthwhile. The video of the founder talking is funny because in the video she is an older lady and you expect older people to be super prudish and unable to refer to certain stuff. The graffiti museum in the Wynwood district in Miami occupied me for at least an hour and a half. I didn't get a guided tour of the free outdoor murals and didn't figure out how to go into a section of murals that requires buying a ticket.

I did a guided tour in a covered electric cart, in Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The tour was a mistake because the roof over the cart blocked me from being able to see what the guide was trying to show us or describe.

I mostly missed the fireworks on New Years even in Miami Beach because I was trying to sleep because I had to wake up to catch my flight back to Detroit, on New Years day. There is a huge free outdoor gathering on and near Ocean drive on New Years eve in Miami Beach and then at midnight the city of Miami Beach launches fireworks.

I did a narrated tour in a boat that left from Bayside Marketplace in Miami. The narrator talked enough that it was worthwhile; it was a guy narrating from memory, not a recording.

I didn't make time for the Everglades area.

I actually started my trip in Key west, Florida. How many nights do you have?
