Mexico City bound - I want beach!!
Flying into Mexico City but I want beach (a nice one, but don't have to stay at a resort) which way do I go for a nice swim or cute towns too!!
|
When did Mexico City get relocated to the United States???

Will you be driving from Mexico City? If so, I'd head either to Veracruz on the Gulf, or to a number of places on the Pacific side, such as Acapulco, Manzanillo, or Ixtapa. The beach is far and away prettier on the Gulf side, but I like the old-world feel of the Pacific side. Also, not that it's on the beach, but Oaxaca is perhaps the coolest little town in southern Mexico with some great shopping and some wonderful Maya ruins.

To my knowledge, Mexico City does not have a beach.

The Caribbean side is better for swimming-gorgeous blue water and nice sand. The Pacific side has sweeping vistas of long beaches with long rollers breaking far out--breathtaking!! The sand is not as fine and the water not as pretty, but plenty of fun! If you like small, you might like Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, or Isla Mujeres on the Caribbean. We loved Zihuatanejo on the Pacific, also PV, but maybe that is larger than you are looking for.

Cozumel, etc. are nowhere near Mexico City.

I know that, but the poster wanted to know about beaches, so I told her about beaches.
