Any information on Playa De Carmen Mexican Riviera. I can't decide between Cancun and Mexican Riviera. What are the differences?

Mexican Riviera is on the westcoast, Pacific Ocean side.<BR><BR>Cancun is on the eastcoast, Gulf of Mexico side.<BR><BR>Look at a map.

There are many differences between the two areas. The biggest difference is that Cancun is very commercialized and lots of motion while Playa Del Carmen is more laid back and quiet. The town of Playa does have restaurants and some shopping, but nothing like the party atmosphere of Cancun. I love both places. I usually stay in Cancun and travel down to Playa by van for a day and spend some time at Tulum and Xel-ha. <BR>Both places have awesome beaches and are gorgeous. You have to love the sand and turqouise water. In the Playa area there are a lot of huge all inclusive resorts that offer a lot of activity since the town is smaller, if you look into that, I suggest the Iberostar Paraiso. <BR><BR>In Cancun I love staying at the Royal Resort Condos, they normally have great prices. PDC is on the Mayan Riviera, not Mexican. Nicolle acurately describes the differences. Cancun is like Miami Beach. Probably in another 20 yr or so, PDC will be also but at the moment, it's less congested. Also in Playa, you could easily take the ferry to Cozumal for a little day trip.
