Mets v. Yanks--do I sell??

I have two tickets for game 5. My wife wants me to sell them for a nice profit and I want to go to the game. Do I strive for domestic harmony or do I sell my tickets to the highest bidder?? I am torn.

Katie Oct 21st, 2000 09:04 PM

Well, silly you, do you want to enjoy the game or stay married? Any way you can inspire your wife to be interested?

Casey Stengel Oct 21st, 2000 10:09 PM

trade the wife in for a player to be named later and take a buddy to the game.

Cindy Oct 22nd, 2000 06:41 AM

Oh, that's easy. Sell her ticket and give her the money to buy whatever she wants. Problem solved.

Ann Landers Oct 22nd, 2000 06:46 AM

Dear Jeff, <BR> <BR>Wake up and smell the coffee! Marriage is God's greatest gift to mankind. A wife, properly nurtured, can be your rock and your salvation, not to mentioned the source of lots of good eats. <BR> <BR>So to keep the peace, you should sell both tickets for face value. Then you should donate the proceeds to your wife's favorite charity. That should give you both a warm glow in your hearts as you settle down on the davenport to watch Game 5. As you can see, it is not too hard to gain marital bliss and save the world at the same time.

Marie Oct 22nd, 2000 09:40 AM

Dear Jeff - it is a non-problem -- there will be no game five -- yankees are going to win it in four

Paul Oct 22nd, 2000 12:11 PM

Jeff, I live in New York and would love to see the game. I tried to get tickets yesterday over the phone for 6 hours and was not able to get through. I am a big Yankees and it would be great to have the opportunity to see the game. <BR> <BR>If you are interested in selling the tickets, I would be interested. You can email [email protected] <BR> <BR>Thanks

GOL Oct 22nd, 2000 02:21 PM

<BR>Sell the anonomously, "as is", for big bucks, then hope the Yanks win in 4. You won't miss the game but still keep the cash.

Jeff Oct 22nd, 2000 06:23 PM

What I would love to pay to see... <BR> <BR>"Ann Landers" and "GOL" at a dinner table talking about the virtues of life and the capitalist system. Fodors does bring out a disparity of opinions.

Dave Oct 23rd, 2000 03:31 AM

How can anyone take seriously advice given by someone who calls a couch a "davenport"???

xxx Oct 23rd, 2000 03:52 AM

Jeff: <BR>What this question has to do with travel?

angel Oct 23rd, 2000 04:05 AM

Sells her's and give her the money! Go and have a good time -- even though you'll be by yourself. <BR> <BR>An understanding partner doesn't demand the other do something. Marriage is a great gift; demanding/guilting your partner isn't. <BR>

Darius Oct 23rd, 2000 05:48 AM

If you are a Yankees fan GO!!!! If you're a Mets fan..might as well sell..they are going to lose anyway!! What kind of a person would try to make you miss a game like this??? It's the World Series...FROGET ABOUT PROFIT..Go To The GAME!!!

Not A Sucker Oct 23rd, 2000 06:54 AM

Doesn't anybody see that Jeff never wanted any advice? He just wanted to advertise the fact that he had two tickets to scalp without being obvious, thus circumventing the list rules.

GOL Oct 23rd, 2000 07:29 AM

<BR>*(just for fun) <BR> <BR>HEY! Jeff. Puleeeease. Please don't use my *name* near, associated with, related to or affiliated with Ann Landers or any form of journalists / media. <BR> <BR>I agree with notasucker that the intent was to sell the tix. By the way, anyone know if the other "trap" posting yielded any travel agents ("calling all travel agents, please write me, I need help")?

metfan Oct 23rd, 2000 10:01 AM

GIVE them to ME!!!! Problem solved, wasn't that easy.

Jeff Oct 24th, 2000 08:56 AM

Thanks for all your advice. I think I am going (especially since my wife is finally getting into the series after Sunday's exciting almost comeback). <BR> <BR>As for Not A Sucker, I guess you don't live in NYC for otherwise you would realize that I would not need Fodors to sell the tickets. If you still have doubts, maybe Paul wouldn't mind if you or Fodors ask him if I responded to his e-mail.

Gary Oct 24th, 2000 09:04 AM

<BR> <BR>Jeff: <BR> <BR>It's not too late! SELL! If what I've read is true, you're holding a minimum of $1500. Sell the tickets: take her to an early dinner, watch the game at the sports bar of your choice, buy your spouse a gift. You'll have enough left for twenty regular-season games next season. And think of the reward.

Jeanette Oct 24th, 2000 10:09 AM

If there is a game five, go. I've lived and loved baseball for 50 plus years and have been out in the parks since I was a baby. Baseball and the World Series can be life long memories. Not replaceable by any other experience if you love the game. If you love it- GO! Nothing replaces being there to a true fan- and no one with YOUR best interests in their hearts would let you miss it. Wish I could be there.

igor Oct 24th, 2000 10:17 AM

It will not come down to game 5. It is obvious now that the Yankees are going to win in 4 and I am very disappointed <BR>because I really hate them!!! But the Mets team has no heart (as Piazza's incident clearly showed).

mets Oct 24th, 2000 10:56 AM

Mets have no heart? <BR>Piazza had class - he didn't stoop to Clemens' level of stupidity and temper. <BR> <BR>Sorry you don't see the obvious. <BR>And they will come back and win the World Series. Just wait and see. <BR> <BR>

marie Oct 25th, 2000 05:11 AM

mea culpa - there WILL be a game five

Lori Oct 25th, 2000 06:00 AM

Uh excuse me - there will now be a game 5. :)

Jeanette Oct 25th, 2000 02:17 PM

Dear Jeff, After you go to the game, would you please, please tell us what it was like. THANKS!

seamsu Oct 25th, 2000 04:58 PM

Really, guys, we on the WEst Coast don't really give a damn who wins the series Give it a rest.

DS Oct 25th, 2000 05:07 PM

To sum up how many of us in the rest of the country feel about this series: <BR> <BR>I don't care who wins the series as long as the fans of the winning team burn that city to the ground.

gogo Oct 26th, 2000 04:34 AM

Hey-The price of those tickets just increased-Now there is a game 5! <BR> <BR>

Gary Oct 26th, 2000 09:58 AM

<BR> <BR>seamsu: <BR> <BR>Please don't try to speak for all of us.

Jeff Oct 26th, 2000 12:49 PM

Final Decision--- <BR> <BR>I am (I mean we are)going tonight. <BR> <BR>Thank you all for your advice.

jen Oct 27th, 2000 07:54 AM

Well, Jeff, I'll bet you're glad you went!! <BR> <BR>... I hope you're a Yankee fan...

depressed Oct 27th, 2000 09:55 AM

Sniff, Sniff, Sniff

Jeff Oct 27th, 2000 07:39 PM

Ran out of the stadium after the ninth so I wouldn't have to commute with the Yankee fans. <BR> <BR>NY fans are great though. Chicago fans overturn cars and start fires win or lose. For god sakes, even Canadian fans started a riot after the NY Rangers won in 1994. Nothing happened after Rocker came to NY. Is the media finally getting tired of predicting or hoping that NY fans act unruly. Give it up.
