Mets May 3 - Wanna join us?
I've got a group of 20 that would like to see the Mets on May 3. Would anyone like to join us? We're a group of Swiss adults and besides myself, none of them have any idea how to play. It would be a great culture exchange.
Also, I could get a group order if I have 22+. Prices between $46 - $50 in the Promenade section. |
I wish I could but I will be on a business trip that weekend. Id love to come there and be able to help explain the game to your group.
Some advice would be to get there for when the gates open at 5pm. The game starts at 7. This way, you will see Batting Practice and be able to explain some of the game to them before the game starts. Have they had any exposure to baseball? |
Nope, not much. I usually have to tell them it's the sport with the bat and ball.
|
I'd love to see the Amazin' Mets - they got me hooked on baseball (1969 World Series Champs) but alas, I can't make it. Thanks for the invite, though. It sounds like great fun! I had't been to Shea since early 70s and now it's gone...CitiField now I think??
Anyway, have loads of fun schuler. |
I would have to do it as a last minute thing.
OOH. It sounds like fun though. |
Topping because I still have some extra tickets.
|
This sounds like fun and it might work for my schedule.
|
Hi ellenem, that would be fabulous! It would be great to see you twice. I have a few extra tickets so if you have a friend that would also like to come along, they'd be welcome as well. Or come on your own. It would be nice to have a real live American with us. :-)
|
Schuler. Please count me in, I would enjoy being part of your group and meeting new peoples. The Mets is one of my favorite New York teams..
|
Excellent! We can meet at the stadium or at our hotel in midtown. Let me know what works best for you. I'll be back soon with more details.
The prepaid tickets need to be picked up at the stadium on the day of the game. It will be a joy to meet you and explain some rules of the game. |
My entire family have been a Mets fan since the 1960s, so it will be fun to see the game in the eyes of your group. Citi Field is a relatively new stadium with lots of added attractions, like the fanfest beyond the outfield. My brother even had a brick with his sons' names placed in the Fanwalk when the stadium was constructed. As you can imagine, aside from the actual rules of the game, there is a lot of baseball lore to explain, and each team has its own traditions, especially for activities that fill in the breaks between innings.
|
Schuler - It is perfectly appropriate for your group to see the Mets play since you note that none of you know how to play the game. Neither do the Mets.
|
Thanks, I will meet you at the stadium.

Awygn: Can you recommend a place at the stadium to meet you? We'll be picking up our tickets at the main gate (Robinson).
|
PS. And if you're interested in an informal get together on Monday, May 2, see me other thread.

I wish I could join you in NY. Have you changed your email address? I've sent you an email, but not sure you got it. I have info on relatives in Einsiedeln! Hope you remember and I can up-date you.
|
Hello Travelinow,
Hi there! Could you send me the email again? I'd love to hear from you. |
shuler - will you be in Manhattan on May 3? I'll be up for the day. I need to get back home that evening, or I would have found it fun to meet you at the game!
