I'll be travelling to NYC with my mother 70 years hold. Can we buy for her a unlimited metro card 7 days for senior citizen? If yes we need a photo and ID? We can buy at machines or need an office?

You must go to an office fill out an application. Mom would then ride for half fare. I do not think there is an office in Manhattan and unless you plan to return to NYC, it is probably nto worth the time and effort.

Aduchamp1 is partially right in that it is not worth it for
1 trip.
One can have an application mailed to them; and you fill out & return w/proof of age along with passport-size photo.
The options for payment are creditcard, deduct from your bank acct or PayPal w/the minimum replacement fee of $10 when your acct dips below same. They will mail you statements altho they prefer you check your acct balance on-line.

There is a place in lower Manhattan to appear and get this done http://www.mta.info/nyct/fare/rfcenter.htm but I'm not sure for a week's stay the time and trouble is worth the savings of $13.

If you ride the bus she can just drop in $1.10 in coins. My suburban friends are always p.o'd when they do this and the bus driver doesn't ask them for ID -:)

Don't know what goes on in the subway... have'nt traveled that way in centuries.

Your Mom can go to the token booth at any subway station and show the clerk her ID (Medicare Card is good too). She can then buy the One trip Metrocard at regular price. She will get a slip from the clerk for the return trip. On the return trip, she will give the slip to the token booth clerk. She will let her through the gate. This mean she ride for half fare. This will save your mom the time to go to a MTA office.
