metro ride to metro station from DCA
I arrive into Ronald Reagan Airport Thursday around 1:00. I was planning to take the metro to the hotel instead of taking a taxi to save money. I will have 3 suitcases with wheels and 3 people to drag them. Is the DCA station easy to get to from the arrival lobby of the airport? Are these 2 stations easy to maneuver through? Is there easy access to the elevators? Sould I take a taxi or take the train? Plese help me decide.
Thanks! |
DCA probably has the most convenient access to public transit of any airport in the U.S. DCA is not a big airport and it is a short distance to the Metro station. There are escalators to the train platform.
At 1pm, there aren't going to be a lot of people on the train, so you shouldn't have any problems, My bigger question would be how far is your hotel from the Metro station Enjoy. |
Totally agree w/MikeT.
Look at this map of the Metro stop at Reagan National Airport. The black boxes with the white arrows are the escalators that lead from the train platform to the pedestrian bridge level. The black "upside down U's" are the elevators that do the same. Here's the map: http://www.stationmasters.com/System.../natlaprt.html |
Thank you for the answers. MikeT, the hotel is very close to the metro station.

You should be fine then.
I think the only time it can be a hassle taking the Metro is when you have lots of bags or trying to travel during rush hour. I get on the Metro two stops from National Airport and when it is crowded, that luggage can be a real problem. Other times, it is a breeze. |
Where is your hotel? With 3 people, it's likely that it wouldn't cost much more to take a taxi than metro if you're downtown.
