Men's Swimwear
Is there anyone out there that can tell me what type of men's swimwear to purchase that DOESN'T balloon up when in a pool, whirlpool or hot tub. Do not want a bikini or speedo. Do I need to purchase a certian fabric or???? Searched for this subject on Fodor's, but didn't find any information. Thanks for your help.

I think the key is the pockets and liner, look for one that is mesh that won't hold in the air or the water. Lands End sells great swimsuits, both mens and womens.

Thanks BarbaraS for your help. Much appreciated

If you have a Macy's or Perisienne near you, they have men's swimwear that describe what you want.

my husband wears tommy bahamas and they don't balloon on him anyway - i usually look for them on sale on line - or when nordstroms is having a sale.

I don't know...I think it's sort of fun to pull the waistband back and watch the big air bubbles escape. -Bill |
I would avoid anything with an elastic waistband -- they almost make an air-tight seal against your skin -- and stay away from anything that is too baggy. I would go for board shorts that lace up at the waist and that are a little slimmer cut in the leg. Sauvage makes some nice swim trunks.

The lightweight synthetic fabric does not absorb water like cotton does, therefore, it's like parachute material. It will hold air. Try to find some trunks that have at least 50% cotton fiber. They won't balloon up, but they do tend to cling to the body more if they are lightweight.

Bill: instead of a bubble bath?

Board shorts are definitely the way to go.

I use Speedos.
They don't look too good on a 60 year old, bald, fat guy, but they work! |
