Mendocino, CA Tips Needed
 

Hi All--

My partner and I are headed to Mendocino, CA for a three-day excursion the last weekend in September. We have our dogs with us, but will also be able to do some dog-free activities as well!

Looking for:
- Restaurant recommendations
- Hiking recommendations
- Anything outdoors-related
- Any other must sees/must dos in the area

We love great food, great wine and beer, being outdoors, dog-friendly activities and new adventures.

We really enjoyed the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden in Fort Bragg.

Anderson Valley Brewing for great beer, Goldeneye, Toulouse and Roederer Estate for great wine (pinot noir and sparkling), Cafe Beaujolais in Mendo is a lovely French bistro, and the restaurant in the Boonville Hotel, Table 128, is fantastic. There's also a nice wine bar in Ukiah that I can't remember the name of.

We didn't hike much, but we really liked Hendy Woods State Park, and of course Mendocino Headlands State Park, which winds along the coast with amazing views of seaside bluffs with blowholes and a couple of little beaches that dogs love.

Oh, btw, Goldeneye can do a tasting outside, on their patio, and dogs are welcome. I can't recall about the others, but most would probably be able to do the same, and you could always call ahead and ask.

The Fern Canyon Trail in Van Damme State Park in nearby Little River is nice. Be sure to check out the Pgymy forest too.

We loved Northcoast Brewing in Fort Bragg.

If conditions are favorable, you might look into kayaking in Mendocino. I can't remember the name of the outfitter we used, but they offer guided tours of the area.
