Menasha, WI -- Things to Do There?

DH and I coming to Menasha in September. I will be on a course but hubby will be on his own during the day. Any recommendations on things for him to do while I'm working? He likes to shop and eat. Also likes history stuff. What are the best restaurants for dinner? We like almost all foods but lean towards prime rib, chinese, or seafood.

Hi,

I've been to Menasha several times and there isn't a whole lot to do there. For shopping there is the fox valley mall. If he likes gambling there is the Oneida Casino in Green Bay which is only a 20 minute ride. I can't remember the name of it, but there is a really good restaurant at the casino. Also if your husband is a water person Lake Winnebaga (sp?) is beautiful.

Have fun!

For my money you can't beat the Packer hall of fame for history. Green Bay is very close.

The Paper Valley Inn in Appleton has a nice restaurant (debatably the nicest in town). If you are there on Saturday, most Restaurants in WI have a Prime Rib special that is generally outstanding.

If you are not a native, ask the locals for a supper club recommendation. I am not familiar enough with that specific location to give you a name.

The Experimental Air (EAA) Museum in Oshkosh is worth a visit. Many planes on exhibit and a IMAX theatre.

Oshkosh also has a public museum that is located in lumber/bank barrons estate. It was once featured on "America's Castles" on A&E. Oshkosh is a quick 15 mins south on US Hwy 41.

I used to live in Menasha and there really isn't much to do. The Fox Valley area (Neenah/Menasha/Appleton) has several nice parks and is a beautiful community but not real touristy. THere is an art museum and shopping but not a lot else. Of course, if your DH likes fishing or golf, he will find a lot to make him happy. If he wants to golf, he can just call a course and they can usually pair him up with a group if he wants to do that.

Thanks, everyone, I'm sure he'll find things to keep himself occupied. We're only there for 3 days. We plan on staying in Milwaukee Saturday night and then driving up to Menasha on Sunday afternoon.

Try for a papermill tour. Visit Lawrence University. Drive around for yard sales. Visit outlet shops. Antique shops. Jansport has a huge outlet shop!

Thanks, GSteed, I will be doing a paper mill tour on my course. I'll check for the outlet stores. We'll have a car as we are flying to Milwaukee and then renting a car to drive to Menasha.
