MEMPHIS RESTAURANTS
So i've tried Chowhound but didn't get many responses... trying to choose for one night special dinner between
McEwan's Folks Folly or Felicia Suzanne's It's a big night, husband's 40th birthday, and we reallywant a special SOUTHERN experience. This trip has been up in the air for awhile - between Nashville, Memphis and Toronto, but Memphis finally won out and got booked! We're going in two weeks and we're so excited! Thanks! |
I absolutely love Felicia Suzanne's! Our favorite meal in Memphis was there, and we go regularly. She has an online menu, so you might want to check it out to see if it's what you have in mind. I've tried to talk myself in eating at McEwan's any number of times, but the menu just doesn't appeal to me...too much meat! I'm not familiar with Folks Folly.

I would say Felicia Suzanne's hands down! I just went there the other day for a cooking class lucheon. Fried green tomato salad is delicious! as well as the Shrimp and Grits dish. She is so wonderful and the food is devine! especially if you want the Southern experience. you cannot beat this!

I lived in Memphis for three years and spent many wonderful evenings at Folks Folly. If you enjoy a fabulous steak, Folks Follly is the way to go. The key to Folks Folly, though, is to book a private room. They are free, but you have to request one when you book your reservation to ensure availability. If it is just the two of you, they have several private rooms just for two - curtained off enclaves along a hall in the restaurant, very private with excellent service.

Well I haven't been to Felicia Suzanees and this is the first Ive heard of it so will have to check it out.........
But, I agree with Becca that Folks Folly is the best place for steak (and also lobster) that I've ever been to. Not just in memphis, but anywhere. And the crabcake appetizers are very yummy. Oh and very good desserts as well. I wouldn't call it a "Southern" experience though. That would be a place that serves fried chicken and overcooked veggies, chicken & dumplins, etc... |
