Memphis hotel with on-premise entertainment
 

Will be staying in Memphis on a week night (probably on a Thursday Night) and would like to stay at a hotel that has an on-premise lounge with a good band. Any recommendations??

Staying downtown at the Peabody would be my choice. This is the only old grand hotel in Memphis. Peabody has several restaurants and entertainment on most nights. Lobby bar is beautiful and fun for people watching. Convenient walking distance to Beale Street nightclubs (including BB Kings), downtown restaurants and bars, etc. If you like ribs, check out the Rendezvous (a Memphis classic) across the street. Or Automatic Slims or Ciao Baby if you do not want ribs. All are in walking distance. Check out Union Jax for a good band, Hueys for a good burger.

Staying at Peabody requires reservations well in advance for many dates.

Whatever you do, do not stay at the Adam's Mark in Memphis. Over $100/night but the room was comparable to budget hotel. Only the lobby was luxurious. We should have stayed at the Peabody.

I don't know about on-site entertainment, but there are several hotels in downtown Memphis which are in close proximity to several bars and nightclubs. I agree with the others that the Peabody is the #1 choice, but it is expensive. Other possibilities are the Days Inn Downtown and the Holiday Inn-- both of these are across the street to the Peabody and are within most peoples' budgets. Beale Street is simply wonderful! Don't miss it, especially BB Kings and the Rum Boogie Cafe. The Pinch District is also a possibility. This area is in the vacinity of the Pyramid. Can anyone recommend a place to stay - an historic b&b would be perfect - between Jackson and Memphis?

I was just surfing and asked for a room at the Peabody and was given a $999.99 price per nite. Expensive???Yeah

In Senatobia, MS there is a B&B called Spahn House. Nice place and great owners! I highly recommend it. It's 30 minutes south of Memphis.

Aimi -- you must've been quoted the price for a suite since the website lists the room rates and none are that high (other than some suites). Most of the rooms (standard & deluxe) are in the $250 - 285 range.<BR><BR>Gotta' agree with Susan's evaluation of the Adam's Mark. I haven't stayed at the one in Memphis, but I have stayed at the one in Dallas and it was *awful*.<BR><BR>If you need a cheaper, but still well-located, option, try the Radisson right across from the Peabody.
