Memphis Hotel Suggestions
Can you suggest a hotel/motel in Memphis? We plan on visiting Graceland and Beale Street.

Debbie

What is your budget and how many people are travelling? Are you also going to visit the casinos in Tunica?

We're (2 adults) open on budget. Probably moderate to upscale. No plans to visit Tunica.

Downtown suggestions:
Hampton Inn at Peabody Place
Radisson
Holiday Inn (Express? I think.)
Springhill Suites and Sleep Inn, both on Court Square
The Peabody is the grandest and most upscale, but I am told the rooms do not live up to the rate.
Talbot Heirs Guesthouse is also very nice.
|
Downtown I'd go for the Peabody or the Radisson; both are nice.

A little farther out but still very convenient would be the Embassy Suites.

If you want something romantic and still conveniently located I'd try Bonne Terre (findable by a search on the Net).

Finally, if it is a weekday and you want to save money I'd go the the Terrace or Veranda hotels in Tunica (not in the casino but across the street) where you can get really nice rooms for $ 39-59/night (except Friday, Saturday & holidays). Tunica is only 30 minutes from Beale Street and closer to Graceland so it is not such a big inconvenience.

I love the Peabody and we always spend time at their bar, but I agree the rooms don't really measure up to the prices. We've stayed at the Radisson, which is right across the street and also at the Holiday Inn Express, which is just down the block. Both are fine; the Radisson is better. There's a new Hampton Inn downtown in Peabody Place that's supposed to be great. In any event, I'd stay downtown, where restaurants and Beale Street are handy and drive out to Graceland, which isn't in a great part of town.

I would not recommend the Raddison. The Hampton Inn just behind the Peabody is very nice. If money is no object, Talbot Heirs Guesthouse is really special.

If you do stay at the Peabody, request a king room ending in 46. These are on the corner and are some of the larger, nicer rooms.
