Memorial Day Weekend in Williamsburg?

Hi everyone
My husband and I are spending memorial day weekend in Williamsburg (2nd visit), and I booked three nights at the Hilton Garden Inn..We actually got a good deal that includes breakfast each morning, king bed, refrigerator and microwave in room for $297.00 total for 3 nights before tax....Has anyone stayed at this property?? I think its fairly new, at 1-2 years old...Also we visited some historic sites when we were there last August, but are looking forward to seeing the plantations, and jamestown (2nd visit) any other recommendations, for restaurants and nightlife would be appreciated.

Thanks

I highly recommend The Trellis restaurant in Merchant's Square. The food is wonderful and the desserts are to die for!
I'm curious about the Hilton Garden Inn, too. I've booked rooms for my family and parents later this year and I'd like to get opinions from others as well.

We used to live in Williamsburg, and still visit several times a year. If you are doing the plantations, try the Indian Fields Tavern on Rt 5 in Charles City. (ph 804-829-5004). Reservations are required. The Caesar salad is a must. The Trellis is the absolute best in Williamsburg, but Berrets is also good for seafood. Nightlife is nil in Willaimsburg - small town. You might do the Lanthorn tour if you have tickets for CW, or try the ghost tour. Otherwise, I'd head for Shokoe Slip in Richmond (45 mins on I64 west)or Va. Beach (60 mins on I64 east) if you really want to party. Enjoy!!

Very good restaurant: River's Inn near Gloucester Point toward Yorktown on the Colonial Parkway. Get a reservation. Confirm directions with your hotel. We found the simplest way was to get on the Parkway near Williamsburg and go in the Yorktown direction, eventually leaving the Parkway and crossing the river, and after you do, the restaurant in only 5 minutes away. Ciao

I do not live in Williamsburg but travel there often because I have had children at The College of William & Mary (only one is left there now--sniff--because the other graduated).

I love the area and have never run out of things to do. I do not know all the restaurants mentioned on this thread, but I seem to end up at Berrett's every time I go. If you don't want to spend the prices in the restaurant, you might want to try Berrett's Raw Bar adjacent to the restaurant. The menu is much more limited but the seafood is fresh and it is cheaper.

I am going to have to try the other restaurants mentioned next time.

I generally stay at The Quarterpath Inn, a low end motel type place, which--if you do not need all the amenities--is just fine (and in between CW & Busch). The website is:

http://quarterpath.com/

There is a small outdoor pool, but nothing fancy.
