Melissa, Kal, Help! Hawaii Marathon Help!

Okay, I've screwed up.

I thought Honolulu had a half marathon the same time as the full in December and they do not.

Maui has a half marathon in September but that is a little early for my group.

So far we've got about 14 people from South Carolina and we want to run Hawaii in late fall.

Is there anything? We are open to small remote races!

Thanks!

Let me ping them through e-mails, hang on there ;)

FainaAgain Jul 29th, 2008 12:17 PM

I sent an e-mail to both with the link to this thread, stay tuned :)

Sorry, been busy. I got the bat signal from Faina and here I am!

How about the Val Nolasco half marathon in November?
http://www.mprrc.com/raceschedule.html

Keep in mind, the link I have above is just ONE list. There are more...like the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure in October, and a few others. However, the Mid Pacific Road Runners have good, cheap races.

You can also inquire at:
http://athleteshi.com/schedule%20race.htm

Let me know when you are here. A running GTG is not a bad idea!

MelissaHI Jul 29th, 2008 12:33 PM

So what IS your marathon time? You never told me.

Kailani Jul 29th, 2008 12:44 PM

If any of you are doing Iron Man in October, I'll wave to you at the Hawi bike turnaround!

Kal Jul 30th, 2008 06:36 AM

Sorry...I'm just coming to after a long weekend in Santa Cruz/Capitola for Mrs Kal's Wharf to Wharf run.

GoGo...
Just do what Mrs Kal did in the Chicago Marathon.
She was about less than a year post serious surgery when she ran the Chicago Marathon.

We saw her at the 13 mile mark and thought for sure she looked strong enough to finish the race...so we went back to Ditka's for brunch.

We shortly got a phone call from her at the 15 mile marker saying she's grabbing a taxi and joining us.
She hit the wall.
So...run half of the 'lulu Marathon and take cab fare!

Mels....do they have taxis in So Africa???

And please let the record show that I did not make a joke about an old Bat signal.
O:)((6))

Thanks Faina, Melissa and Kal! I knew my Fodors buddies would come through!

Melissa, where is Val Nolasco?

GoTravel Jul 30th, 2008 07:07 AM

Hey Kal, that is a plan but one of us is dead set on running either a half or full in every state and posts the medals on this elaborate board she has at home.

Maybe we could buy one on ebay?

Gosh, I really don't want to train for another full.

Crap.

Kal Jul 30th, 2008 07:09 AM

GoT...I keep telling Mrs Kal I <i>know</i> she has one more marathon in her. She kinda agrees then lets the feeling pass.

As for a full or half in every state...PLEASE don't tell Mrs Kal!!

Oh and by the way if you see Val Nolasco, sucker still owes me money from a crap game at Aloha Tower Mktplace.

Val Nolasco is on Oahu...start is at Kapiolani Park at the east end of Waikiki.

MelissaHI Jul 30th, 2008 11:53 AM

Kal, the little missus needs to join me in S.A.!!! You saw Mischka's pix....and the run is only a half marathon.

Then later next year she can join me in the Honolulu marathon! Same same but different!

Kal Jul 31st, 2008 06:35 AM

:-O FAINA!!! Get you mind out of my gutter!

Mels...I'd send you some info about SoAfr off board but I guess that's frowned upon now. [-X

I bet GoT and other SoCarolites can make it to SoAfr before 'lulu?

Hmmmm...sippin' wine/drinkin' beer with Daddy W and other SoAfr FFFs while you gals are out huffin' and puffin'.((Y))((Y))

Y'all are the best!

Not sure what we'll do but I'll know soon enough.

Melissa, I think my best time is right at five hours for a full. I'm not fast!

Kal Aug 1st, 2008 06:47 AM

GoGo...So what? The whole point is you're DOING it and you FINISHED!

That is what we so admire about you guys!=D&gt; &gt;:D&lt;

In this day and age most people can't even get off the couch and away from their computer for 5 hrs!

This is our marathon ;)

MelissaHI Aug 2nd, 2008 02:35 PM

GoT, I think MOST people set 5 hrs as their goal! That's about my time, too.

Kal, why is the off board stuff frowned upon? you gotta gotta go!

An article about Oahu marathons in 8-1 Honolulu Advertiser. It also lists the &quot;readiness series&quot;.
