Meeting point between Hartford, CT and Lowell, MA

Will be staying at the Hartford Convention Center. Want to see a MA friend on a Saturday or Sunday for lunch without going all the way up to Lowell.

Can anybody suggest a halfway meeting spot that would be a great place to spend the afternoon? Cute restaurants, charming downtown, easy access, etc.

THANKS

I'm not sure about the charming downtown part, but maybe Sturbridge MA? that's roughly halfway and might be an interesting place to spend an afternoon.

Would agree with Sturbridge. Its closer to Hartford than Lowell but not by much. Worchester would work for restaurants but you lose easy access and charming downtown.

Thanks! Sturbridge did catch my eye on the map, I am sure I have heard of it as some kind of touristy town (which is OK!)

I agree with Sturbridge - easy to get to from both cities, and too small to get that lost in.... :)

We're always looking for great places to stop on the way to NYC from NH.

Favorites in Worcester include

Both are easy on/easy off I-290.

A great steak house in Marlboro
