medicine for flying
I used to love to fly but the last flight I was on I had a panic attack....I have no idea why. So now I am getting nervous to fly tomorrow- is there anything that helps???
|
A prescription anti-anxiety agent - like Xanax or valium would help - but it's a little late to get that now. If you take Dramimine it will make you sleepy and that might help.
But if you fly moe than very rarely perhaps you should ty to find the cause of your anxiety and eliminate it - rather than just medicate. |
It may be too late for tomorrow, but this what had helped me. I googled fear of flight classes and read the lessons one by one.
At the end there are mental and breathing exercises. One I remember: deep inhale, slow exhale saying relaaaaxxx... |
It's probably too late to get a prescription medication since you're flying out tomorrow.
Valerian root is an herbal remedy for anxiety...you could try that. I find what works best is having a total disregard for what's going on around me. I involve myself in a book or magazine and before you know it it's time for peanuts and coke. |
Oh, yeah, valerian is good, and so is St John's Wart.

Scotch

Thank you for all the advice! I knew it was too late to get a RX but I thought I'd be fine... but I have a feeling once we take off I will get nervous. I will try one of the things you mentioned... but I'll pass on the scotch..

I find it helps to tune into the flight control tower on the portable headsets. For some reason it makes me feel just a little bit more in control to hear flight control and our pilots talking back and forth.
Of course, Xanax is always a wonderful thing, too... |
