Meandering from San Diego to LA 10/28-10/31

Quiet oceanfront or calm and high in the hills. We're looking for small inn, farm, or b&b. We are both foodies and lovers of nature and would love to see where our food is coming from and meet the wonderful folks that make it or the beautiful artwork that they create

Outstanding in the Field is in LA (Wattles Farm) on October 28 and 29 if that is something you would be interested in attending. Also, lots of terrific restaurants in LA but you can check the local food sites for more suggestions. Can't help with the lodging in between LA and San Diego but others will likely chime in.

Sooooo many choices for good lodging and fine dining. And many posts on this. Not sure how many farm/dining places there are.

Suggest you just pick a place you want to stay at - and within 10 miles - will have any number of choices.

Personally - I suggest you stay at the beach - or with a view of the ocean and build around that.

SD to LA is only a couple of hours - outside of rush hours.

not a lot of "calmness" in that areaa. some places that jumped to mind, san diego to julian and spend the night, then you could go to laguna beach the next day before los angeles. or, laguna beach has some great art galleries and is beautiful but it's not "farmlike" at all. there are some wineries around temecula...you could stay out in that area and have a meal at one of the wineries.

another thought...does catalina island interest you. drive from san diego, take the ferry from dana point, come back the next day, dinner in laguna beach and then onto la.
